Adhvik Mahajan who will be seen playing the role of Soham Singh Maan in Colors' upcoming new daily soap Gurbani, talks about his character and journey in this industry.

You will be soon seen in the daily soap, Gurbani. How do you feel?
I am very excited for the show. I am hoping that I do well and win over the hearts of viewers through my performance. The storyline of the show Gurbani is very interesting and that is one of the reason I am positive about the role I am going to play.

Tell us something about your character in the show...
Soham Singh Maan is the name of my character. I play a very simple boy living in the village of Punjab who is a workaholic and helpful person. People in the village love me a lot and always come to me for any advice and solutions to their problems. When he gets a chance to go abroad he declines it and chooses to stay in the village itself as he loves the environment. Meanwhile, he falls in love with a girl and the twists and turns that take place are interesting.

You are paired opposite new comer Shefali Sharma in the show. How was it working with her?
Even I am a new comer. The only difference is that I have acted in a few films earlier. However, Shefali Sharma who essays the role of Gurbani belongs to a theater background and is a skilled performer. In my opinion the casting of the show is superb as each and every actor is talented.

As compared to films, what difference do you find in television?

Television requires you to be on your toes. There are long working hours involved and most importantly one has to be in the character till the show goes off.

What do you prefer - television or films?

My journey began from theatre and then I ended up doing some films. I am interested in acting as it is my passion, so I don't bother about the medium, I just see the character and the storyline. If it pleases me then I take it up. Television and films are both interesting according to me as they both provide an opportunity to act (smiles).

How did acting happen to you?

I hail from Punjab and when I was in class 9, I used to think to myself, "What if I don't become an actor?" Right from childhood, acting was my passion and I did not think about becoming anything other than an actor. After my graduation, I was struggling to get into this industry, but by God's grace it was an easy struggle. Within 6 months I got work in this industry and then there was no looking back. I worked in a Bollywood movie and many South Indian films too. Now it is time for me to explore television. So I believe that the journey has been good enough till now.

Do you watch any television shows?
Being in India you cannot skip watching television shows. I do watch many of the television shows when I get the time. Sony TV's daily soap Bade Acche Laggte Hai is one of my favorite shows so far.

Are there any specific actors from Television and Bollywood that you want to work with?
From the television industry I like Sanaya Irani, I find her a complete package which includes good looks, acting skills and she is an entertainer. If I were to choose from Bollywood then I wish to work with Aaamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan.

An attitude with which you walk in life?
Be positive and trust yourself.
