Aamir Khan reveals how his first wife Reena Dutta pushed him for marriage counselling before they divorced

Everyone has wondered how Aamir Khan has managed to have such a good rapport with his ex-wives, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao. The superstar actor opened up on how he dealt with his first divorce. As we know, he had married Reena his neighbour before the release of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. He told Pinkvilla that he took marriage counselling before formalizing his separation from Reena. Aamir Khan said he was initially against it, but later decided to have that difficult conversation with a counsellor.

Some time back, Aamir Khan revealed that Ira Khan and he underwent therapy to address unspoken issues that had crept up when she was a child. He had said that he was busy with films and did not give his kids much time. Aamir Khan said he would not call it therapy but more like a counselling session.

He revealed that when Reena Dutta and he were on the verge of finalizing their divorce, they visited a marriage counsellor for a year and a half. The actor revealed he was not very open to the idea initially. Aamir Khan said he did not understand how he would open up to a strange person on his relationship with Reena Dutta and what went wrong.

However, Reena Dutta was adamant that they undergo marriage counselling. As we know, it is to sort issues between couples and help them overcome miscommunication. It seems she was insistent so he followed her advice. Aamir Khan said he did not speak much initially but slowly built a sense of trust with his therapist.
