Aamir Khan Opens Up on Battling Height Insecurities, Overcoming Alcohol Addiction, and Lessons from Life

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, known for his honesty, recently reflected on the challenges he faced in his early career. In a candid conversation with veteran actor Nana Patekar on Zee Music's YouTube channel, the Dangal actor opened up about overcoming insecurities and bad habits, offering a glimpse into his personal journey.

Khan admitted that he struggled with feelings of inferiority due to his height during his initial days in the industry. Sharing his thoughts, he said, “I used to feel that what if people don’t accept me because of my height. This was my fear. But later, I realized that all of this does not matter at all. But at that time, some kind of insecurity creeps in.”

Over time, Khan realized that self-worth lay in hard work and meaningful relationships, which helped him overcome his insecurities.

The conversation also touched on bad habits, with Patekar confessing he is often indisciplined. Responding to this, Khan revealed he had been undisciplined in life but never in his work. He also opened up about his battle with excessive drinking, a habit he has since overcome.

“The problem is that I am an extremist man, so I continue to do what I am already doing. It’s not a good thing, and I realize that. I also know that I am doing the wrong thing, but I can’t stop myself,” Khan admitted, referring to his struggles with drinking all night before eventually quitting.

On the professional front, Aamir Khan recently campaigned for his film Laapataa Ladies, India’s official Oscar entry, though it did not progress further. The actor is now gearing up for his next project, Sitaare Zameen Par, a sequel to the 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. He is also producing Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol in the lead role.
