International shows manage to get a lot of appreciation and accolades owing to their novel concepts, stellar scripts, impeccable performances and apt techniques. Several shows develop a cult status and are remembered for their best moments.
Some shows run for years and years, still manage to hold viewership and strong content. Indian shows receive a lot of flak for being unnecessarily long and stretchy, sometimes just to hold on to viewers, which usually backfires.
With Shah Rukh Khan recently stating that he would love to make a Hindi remake of the epic show 'Breaking Bad', we make a list of some international shows that would provide a good base of remakes with stronger content and giving it a non-clichéd Indian flavour.
1. Breaking Bad
Considered as one of the best shows of all time, Breaking Bad changed the way one watches television. The unusual concept of a chemistry teacher diagnosed with lung cancer turning to crime with an accomplice sparked interests of the audiences and critics alike. The 9.5/10 Imdb rated show may provide a good base of story for Indian television just like avid fan, Shahrukh Khan plans to do so.
Actors Who Could Play:
- Kabir Bedi as Walter White owing to his personna and one of the best voices.
- Rajat Tokas as Jesse Pinkman owing to his looks which lands him between a boy and a man category and great acting.

The prospects of 'Two And A Half Men' working are bright considering its a sitcom where adult content is a rare thing on Indian television. Mellowing down on misogyny, skin show and the casanova image of Charlie Sheen's character, the 12 season old show would be a good base too.
Actors Who Could Play:
- Karan Singh Grover as Charlie where his on-screen and off-screen persona pretty much justifies his casting.
- Ravi Dubey as Alan for being one of the best comic timers on Indian television.
- Bhavya Gandhi as Jake where this grown up boy is now a good looking teenager, showing his journey from an innocent boy to a collegian.
3. F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Actors Who Could Play:
- Gautam Rode as Ross for that intellectual man with a tinge of comedy.
- Jennifer Winget as Rachel for being quirky and the most prettiest of the lot.
- Karan Patel as Chandler where he can pull off those amazing one-liners.
- Divyanka Tripathi as Monica as the disciplined yet a self obsessed clumsy one.
- Rithvik Dhanjani as Joey, justifying his notoriety and pulling off the casanova role.
- Asha Negi as Phoebe for being crazy, loud and the most sensible at times.

Politics, betrayal and supremacy in one of the most intelligent ways is the premise of House Of Cards, where a democrat is trying to gain more power and is assisted by his family in the process. Unlike other series which may need a lot of changes and tweaks for catering to Indian television, this show's base concept is perfect for an engaging Indian audience.
Actor Who Could Play:
- Mohnish Bahl as Francis Underwood for the acting prowess where a mere screen presence can be impactful.

A blood splatting analyst who doubles as a vigilante serial killer! 'Dexter' changed the way we would have a visual when we say or think the name, Dexter, which initially was a nerdy genius unsocial kid with a nagging sister. A plot which is probably the closest to materialise as an remake in terms of content on Indian television, this would be a great one to watch.
Actor Who Could Play:
- Karanvir Bohra as Dexter, since he proved his fettle with his performance in 'Saubhagyavati Bhava's essaying the role of a crazy psychopath.
6. Desperate Housewives

This super dramatic series is way beyond kitchen politics, and would definitely make a good watch for the Indian audiences. Love, lust, envy, revenge, murder mysteries... our television bahus have done it all.
Actors Who Could Play:
- Rashmi Desai as the snob and self centred Gabrielle Sollis.
- Drashti Dhami as the sorted Miss-know-it-all Lynette Scavo.
- Shweta Tiwari as the sassy tragedy queen Susan Mayer.
- Anita Hassanandani as classy and mysterious Bree Van de Camp.
A special name which could also fit in this list, but we just couldn't get the right actors for an ensemble cast was Modern Family. Who do you think could fit in the Indian adaptation of this family drama? Please let us know in your comments below!
