The world of Indian television can be as dramatic off-screen as it is on-screen. Over the years, several popular actors have been unexpectedly ousted from their shows—some due to professional disagreements, others over personal conduct or creative differences. While such exits often come with controversy, many actors use these turning points to reinvent themselves and take their careers in new directions. Here's a look at where five such actors—Paras Kalnawat, Shilpa Shinde, Pratiksha Honmukhe, Shehzada Dhami, and Karan Singh Grover—stand today.

Paras Kalnawat:

After his much talked about ouster from Anupamaa in 2022, Paras didn’t take long to bounce back. Days later, the actor was seen in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and later went ahead to lead Kumkum Bhagya. And now, in 2025, he took on the lead role of Aditya Kashyap in Parineetii on Colors TV following a generation leap. His performance has been well-received, and he’s also active in the music video space, collaborating with artists like Ankit Tiwari and Payal Dev.

Shilpa Shinde:

Post her controversial exit from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, Shilpa has stayed visible through reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Khatron Ke Khiladi. Post her exit from the show, the actress went ahead to be a part of Bigg Boss 11 and also later won it. She also had a stint in Maddam Sir and appeared in the digital series Paurashpur. Despite her past clashes with production houses, she continues to remain a familiar face across platforms.

Though her exit from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, her debut show, raised eyebrows, Pratiksha quickly turned the page. The actress later went ahead to essay the negative character in Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye. She now stars alongside Paras Kalnawat as Nisha in Parineetii, marking a major comeback and establishing her place in daily soaps once again.

Shehzada Dhami:

After being removed from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Shehzada has kept a relatively low profile but remains in the public eye. He’s been linked to shows like Suhaagan Chudail (which he denied joining). The actor later participated in Bigg Boss 18 and is yet to return onscreen after the show.

Karan Singh Grover:

Reports suggested that Karan Singh Grover was ousted from Qubool Hai years ago. However, Karan has successfully shifted across TV, OTT, and Bollywood. He was seen in the film Fighter and reprised his iconic role in Qubool Hai 2.0. With buzz about a possible reunion project with ex-wife Jennifer Winget, fans are eagerly waiting to see what he does next.

Gia Manek

Giaa Manek rose to fame as the original Gopi Bahu in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, but her journey on the show came to an abrupt end in 2012. The actress was reportedly removed after she chose to participate in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa without the producers’ consent. The decision to replace her with another actress sparked controversy and mixed reactions from fans. Since then, Giaa has continued to experiment with different genres. She played a bubbly genie in the comedy show Jeannie Aur Juju, showcasing her lighter side. After a few quieter years, she made a nostalgic return in Tera Mera Saath Rahe (2021–2022), a spiritual reboot of her debut show, where she took on a familiar but refreshed version of her iconic character. More recently, she has ventured into films—marking a new phase in her career. In 2024, she appeared in the movie Kaam Chalu Hai, in a lead role that allowed her to explore more grounded and realistic storytelling.

In an industry known for its unpredictability, these actors have shown that setbacks can also be stepping stones. Whether it's reclaiming the spotlight through new roles, exploring different formats, or simply staying connected with fans, each of them has taken a different route to resilience. Their journeys serve as a reminder that one chapter ending doesn't mean the story is over—it might just be the start of something even bigger.

Stay tuned, because in the world of Indian television, comebacks are always just one good script away.
