December can be considered a harbinger for winters as the cold
and gloomy climate onsets. But it is also the perfect time to cuddle up
for some good romantic flicks. And there can be nothing better than a
heartwarming love story with a lead pair which screams chemistry. As we
gear up for the last month before the New Year, BollyCurry brings to you
a list of such couples Bollywood saw in 2012.

After delivering a blockbuster in the form of
Krrish, this magical duo paired up once again to spread their sizzling chemistry on the silver-screen after nearly six years in
Agneepath,
a critical and commercial success. Hrithik-Priyanka's pairing as
Vijay-Kaali was appreciated by the audiences despite their love story
not being the main plot of the film.

Ranbir, too, paired up with Priyanka after a gap of two years in
Barfi!. The duo had already set the screens on fire in 2010 with
Anjaana-Anjaani.
The pairing proved to be a hit yet again as they played a heartwarming
differently-abled couple wherein Ranbir essayed the role of a
deaf-and-mute Murphy while Priyanka was the autistic Jhilmil. Besides
Priyanka, Ranbir also managed to create chemistry with the parallel
female lead, debutante
Ileana D'Cruz, who played Murphy's past love and
the narrator of the movie. Their pairing was also liked by numerous.

A romantic comedy,
Student of the Year
consisted of all debutantes as leads. A major factor that worked in
favour of the film was the mutual chemistry between them. Female lead
Alia Bhatt as Shanaya sizzled with both
Varun Dhawan and Siddharth
Malhotra. Though, Siddharth's character Abhimanyu gets the girl in the
end, her pairing with Rohan, played by Varun, was equally popular.

This gorgeous couple, first seen in
Masti, paired up after eight years for
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya.
The film got good to mixed reviews from the critics and was declared a
hit at the box office. It also garnered publicity as this lead pair of Riteish Deskhmukh and Genelia D'Souza got
married weeks before the movie released.
Ishaqzaade,
a romantic drama on the backdrop of honor killings, starred debutante
Arjun Kapoor in the lead role opposite the vivacious
Parineeti Chopra.
Their pairing was an instant hit as they attracted the audiences with
their sugar-and-spice chemistry. They became a rage long before the film
hit the silver-screens and once it did, it was a box-office success.

Bollywood's "Bhai" and Barbie Doll returned to awe the world by their chemistry in the Kabir Khan directorial venture
Ek Tha Tiger.
Their on-again, off-again relationship status or off-screen issues
rumors could do nothing to tarnish the unique chemistry that these two
share. Salman as a clever yet adorable RAW agent Tiger and Katrina as a
charming, kick butt ISI spy, weaved their magic on the screen and the
fact that ETT remains the highest grossing movie of 2012 is proof enough
just how much they succeeded.

The
last time the Legend Yash Chopra took command behind the camera, he
left behind a couple which the Bollywood movie fans had been
anticipating for a long time. When
Shah Rukh Khan as the adorable
"Challa" Samar Anand fell for the rich and beautiful Meera, Katrina
Kaif, they embarked on a journey of love which is truly unique in its
own way. Shah Rukh was in his romance forte but it was Katrina who awed
critics and audience alike with the ease she portrayed her character and
the blazing yet subtle chemistry she shared with King Khan. The next
"It" couple of Bollywood perhaps? The kisses they shared on-screen just
can not go in vain.

In a multi-starrer Sajid Khan movie, sequel to a blockbuster comedy "
Houseful",
John and Jacqueline managed to stand apart among all the couples. In a
pure comic movie, they showed the cute side of love. Be it John giving
her a flower on the beach or Jacqueline romancing him in a sneaky
midnight song, they made sure that the audience's eyes were glued to
them. One must say, they succeeded big time in differentiating
themselves from the other couples in the film.
Ajay Devgn and
Sonakshi Sinha paired up for the first time in the masala entertainer
Son of Sardaar.
Jaswinder "Jassi'' Singh accidentally ends up in the house of his
bloodthirsty enemy Billu Singh but due to the rule of the house that
guests are to be treated as gods, he is spared any immediate harm but
his troubles do not end there. Among such troubles, he falls for Billu's
sister, Sukhmit. The pairing of Ajay and Sonakshi is unconventional but
it is the innocence of their onscreen love that makes them click. They
portray the quality of love that knows no boundaries, one which can
triumph over all hurdles and obstacles. This makes
Son of Sardaar a hilarious yet tender flick and does its charming wonder.
Saif Ali Khan revived the
Love Aaj Kal pairing when he teamed up with
Deepika Padukone in his home production
Cocktail.
Only this time, there was an addition of
Diana Penty to the cast. This
trio portrayed the wild, flirty and the sweet side of a love triangle,
set in a London backdrop. If Veronica is a literal wild child, Meera is
every mother-in-law's dream and Gautam is that guy stuck between two
beautiful ladies. The story of
Cocktail tells the tale of love
and friendship and these characters truly bring it to life. Though Saif
looks a little awkward with these two much younger girls, he manages to
sell the flirty and angst filled side of Gautam, but it's the girls who
take away all the deserved accolades for the effortlessly friendly
chemistry that they share. Maybe its about time Bollywood opens up to
young, female-centric friendship themed movies because these girls can
nail it!
So, here's BollyCurry
signing off with the list of the most rocking couples of this year. Who
would you like to see rock the screens again? Any particular couple you
think stole the show this year?
