“I bet you could sometimes find all the mysteries of the universe in someone's hand.”
This has always been true with MishBir. Abir was a nomad, a wanderer who had no reason to stay put, no home to return to. Always in search of answers, he didn't even fully know the questions to. That was before he met Mishti Agarwal. The 'banjara' found his home in her and the answer to all his questions.
Mishti was a skeptic, a realist. She believed in always doing the right thing, always doing right by everyone even if came at the cost of her own well-being. She never believed in taking chances or letting life happen to her. That was before she met AbirRajvansh. The skeptic became the believer and the vulnerable found her armor.

The show has always managed to emphasize the bit about Abir finding his answers inMishti but for the first time, in episode 221, we see them openly acknowledge how Abir has all along been Mishti's strength. Her reason to keep fighting. The one person who taught her how to live 'for herself'. The Small conversation between MishBir was momentous on multiple grounds.
1) Mishti got to talk to Abir and for the first time since their break up, she had him actually listening to her. It served a bigger purpose though. It providedMishti the opportunity to finally be able to vocalize the honest feelings that she was struggling with and being forced to suppress. Abir's meeting gave her a chance to let them go when no one else even cared to hear what she had to say. Abir was there. He would never again make the mistake of not listening to her. So no matter how hard it was to hear her say those words. No matter how harsh the truth was, he would face it, face her. Never interrupting once or excusing himself, head bowed down, accepting and openly willing, he listened.
2) Mishti was trying to move on. Small yet extremely significant take away from this conversation. The fact that she had decided that she had given enough to their relationship and that it was time to put herself on the top now. This is what we wanted to see her do for some time and it was nice to hear her say it. However, it also became quite obvious how the girl had absolutely no idea what' moving on' actually meant. There was clearly no time and one needs time to realize and learn how to come out of a break-up & move on in a healthy manner. Mishti has always had the courage to listen to her heart. Abir acknowledged this when he once mentioned how while he aspired to do the right thing, Mishti always did the right thing. Whenever push came to shove, she chose her heart every single time, no matter how hard it was. Because, heart is inherently what Mishti has always been about. If you took the heart out, you take Mishti out. No logic could ever make that right.
3) Abir had not come to meet his ex-girlfriend but to talk to his best friend, who always gave him the best advice. He did not give her any excuses neither did he offer her any explanation on why he did what he did. He knew he was already on borrowed time and so he only offered her his sincere apologies and an ear to her rant. He never once prioritized himself even as he was running out of time, acknowledging everything that he's done wrong so far. The use of himself as an example to convince her to not repeat his mistakes was a great touch and told so much about how he was entirely aware of how grave the consequences of his mistakes were.
4)When Mishti confessed to him that he was the strength that drove her and helped her overcome the crisis in her life, it left him stumped. He wasn't aware thatshe drew strength from him the same way he drew it from her. We see him crushed for a second when he probably realized how he had another humongous reason added on to his guilty pile but it serves to also remind him of a particularly significant responsibility of his towards her. He went there to find his answer, to draw strength from the girl who had always inspired him to do the right thing no matter what it takes. In this process, he ends up realizing that it has always run both ways. As much as he needed her, she needed him too. Even if she didn't admit or wanted his help anymore. He'd failed her too many times and he wasn't going to let her fail again. This wasn't about him, it was about her. Since it was clear he wasn't just giving up on them, she was giving up on her and he'd rather give up on life than let her give up on herself. They had different questions, the answers entirely unexpected yet they managed to become the ones that both needed to hear.
The sheer brilliance of this scene. Words would fall short in trying to appreciate the intelligence that has gone behind creating this absolute masterpiece of a scene. The subtle yet hard-hitting dialogues, the smart thinking behind the flashback that connects the two scenes, the way they used the 'imperfect' bangles to represent their 'imperfectly-perfect' relationship, the ingenuity in coming up with two completely different, entirely unrelated topics, getting them to work so well together that they never once looked forced or ill-fit while managing to give them both fitting answers was honestly extremely impressive. The cleverness with which this whole sequence was conceived and executed was very apparent. It's been a very long time since we have seen this kind of writing from the team especially post-leap and I can't help but send my sincere appreciation and thanks to the team for making a comeback as powerful as this.
This scene will always remain one of my top favorite MishBir scenes of all time. I hope we can see much more of this kind of writing and execution on the show especially when it comes to these two because MishBir as characters only deserve the absolute best.
