So the abused became the abuser…. All his life he cried victim of being treated like a stranger in his own house, yet the same person is estranging a mother and her baby. It’s a highly likely possibility that most often than not people who are abused in their childhood become abusers themselves per psychology/psychiatrists, one of the main reasons why doctors explore the childhood of an individual to identify the root cause.
Armaan is one of the worst characters of yeh rishta so far, definitely one of the worst MLs of ITV. His characterization has been consistent so far, he is an escapist who would do everything he wants and when things go wrong will hide behind the facade of childhood trauma. Another thing that’s consistent is he is a gaslighter, who has done all unimaginable things towards others, yet in the end instead of accepting that he is wrong would cry victim. He betrayed his brother, kept leading a girl for almost 1 year, and what he did/does with Abhira is nothing short of cruelty. He is nothing but an attention-seeker and a coward who cries foul anytime someone points out how wrong he is. How is it that in every situation he becomes the victim is definitely beyond logical reasoning. Abhira cannot have children, gets abused/taunted/neglected, yet Armaan is the victim. Ruhi loses her husband, has a small baby with an uncertain future, yet is strong enough to go through the emotional/physical stress of being a surrogate, yet Armaan is the one who is suffering from psychological issues?? Shivani lost her whole life/mental balance yearning for her husband/child, yet Armaan who grew up in the lap of luxury with a whole loving family is the victim because his dadisa didn’t offer him candy and declare him as her favorite. If one looks at everything that has been shown so far, at no point has this character taken responsibility for his actions. What’s the difference between Armaan and Vidya/Dadisa, isn’t he doing the same?, separating a mother and child…. Tomorrow if something happens to the kid he is going psycho for, he will definitely find a scapegoat for that as well, wouldn’t be surprised if he hides behind the dead brother/mother for his actions. The writing is so twisted in this show, the writers never point blank mention that this character is actually wrong, which is why this show is so problematic.
The less said about Abhira the better, lost all sympathy for this character when she ran behind a guy who publicly humiliated her, falsely accused her, destroyed her career and behaved cruelly. Her only redeeming quality is that she’s a genuinely good person who tries to do right by everyone, can’t blame her for that. Abhira is one of those real-life women who are stuck in a marriage with a guy who would abuse you, demean you in daylight in front of others and would cry victim that he had no control over himself and shower love behind closed doors. This is an even more dangerous kind of abuse than the physical abuse, because the actual victim loses their identity completely and starts questioning their own self worth. This is the kind of marriage where one cannot break from, because the victim is made to believe circumstances made the spouse react/abuse them, but generally they have a loving spouse. Even though there’s no hope from this character, let’s see if she at least stands up for her kid.
This was a doomed one-sided relationship from the beginning, the writers have made it very clear that Abhira is never going to be happy with Armaan and every time she goes back to him ends up being treated worse than the last time. What an utterly pathetic character they have made of their FL…
