Maybe the parents have decided to donate blood and hence they need to undergo blood work.

But from what I know about blood donation, generally, the blood is donated first and late it is analysed. At least this is what happens in blood donation camps.

my husband is O+ ve has given blood about 4 times,in Calgary I don’t know why the last time he did so he felt very dizzy and almost lost consciousness so the nurse told him not to give blood anymore.

I badly wanted to give blood too but I am not allowed. So we decided to pledge all our organs. And our bodies for research if transplants are not possible. At least I can be of use to someone

O positive can give only to positive ones (e.g. A+, B+, AB+, O+)

The rarest blood group is AB negative
