The way he backs off when Aks gets edgy and so Aks is obliged to listen to him when he is taking the lead.

He knows it that with family around he wont be able to pull her to his side. And with no direct relations between them she is vulnerable to every blame that family puts on her at the moment.

He knows how to fight back but she will keep quiet and suppress herself even more.

So he has to do the shaadi kaand then protect her from everyone's evil eyes.

If he does not marry her he is unable to sheild her from Goenka's, Aarohi and PR uncle's wrath.

But once she is his wife no one can point a finger at Akshara.

Well let's see what happens next week.

Wow! You put it so well! 👏🏻 If they don’t get married, he won’t be able to shield her. Like he said, ab baat parivaar ki razamandi ki nahin, parivaar k izzat ki hai. Of course he will be by her side, he will fight for their love- that’s a given. But it won’t be a strong enough support for Akshu because in her eyes, they’re both guilty and worthy of blame as of now because though they love each other they have no proper response to ‘yeh rishta kya kehlata hai?’.

If they get married though, it will matter when Abhi takes a stand for Akshu against the families. Even the families- though would blame them initially, they will grudgingly, unwillingly consider his stance as her husband. They’re all traditionally wired that way, kya karein? Akshu too would subconsciously be strengthened by his support as a husband.
