I've been an on and off viewer of YRKKH since it started. I've watched it and laughed at some of the ridiculous things that have happened in the past. But I have always, always enjoyed the show - simply for the feel good vibes. Be it when Akshara had no idea about proportions for the halwa for her first rasoi or when Daddaji let her let go off her palloo. When Rajshree was sooo worrisome to now, the character has become better. I must admit I've not seen all episodes in the past, probably skipped a few. But I've been a part of most of the important transitions. I've moved away from home to study and I've been watching YRKKH regularly (just getting my fill of the India feels this way) and I'm really enjoying this whole thing now.

The very beginning of the show that focussed on Akshara and Naitik's journey as a newly married couple and their life together was endearing. It was regular stuff happening and the fact that there were no vamps like the shows at that time was a major plus. I don't think the acting was top-notch, but the actors did a great job with the characters and that's why this will always be Akshara walla show for me.

Part two was the leap that put Naitik in a coma and introduced Duggu. I remember vaguely Duggu's diabetic track and Akshara helping him get on the football team were major tracks then. There was even a super mom Akshara movie on one Sunday. 😆 A major reason why this leap connected was the good acting and seeing Akshara and Naitik as parents.

Then, the whole Cape Town leap happened and to put it mildly, I was not a big fan. Grown up Naksh did not connect with me. The acting was subpar for me and the plot was not well written. Bhabimaa exiling Akshara for no fault of hers was annoying. But it was a small glimpse of how Naitik, Akshara and the kids would have lived as a nuclear family. Another major complaint for me was how Akshara and Naira didn't really have as many bonding scenes. Akshara and her Duggu were the sole focus in the past and I wish they'd established the mother-daughter bond too, in addition to the papa-princess bond.

And finally the Rishikesh leap happened. I started watching to be amused by what was happening and initially I felt a disjoint, cause the whole Maheshwari family was scattered everywhere, Naitik was away and Muskaan and her husband were not even mentioned. I didn't instantly connect with the new characters. Naira was fierce and angry and quite frankly, a badass. Her continued disdain towards her mother irked me. But eventually, her character grew. She saw the error of her ways and reconciled with her mother. I feel terribly for the girl - she missed her entire childhood, almost lost her father and never got much of a shot with her mother as her mother died before they could catch up on the many years lost. But she's a girl of steel, she didn't let situations deter her, she let them make her stronger.

Yes, it was Akshara's journey and now it is Naira's. And how beautiful is it that the two characters and their journeys are so different. Akshara went from being a demure girl raised in a beautiful family, married off at 18 to a responsible woman with a loving family. Naira started as a girl brought up in a nuclear set up, shown jealous of Gayu when Naitik showered his niece with love since she wasn't used to sharing her father to growing up all alone, but bonded with love to the kids at Rishikesh. And that experience shaped her. Of course, she loves her family. She'll always love them. But staying away from them gave her character that spunk, that outspokenness, that smart wit. And that's why Naira is a different character from Akshara, yet so similar in the fact that family for them is prime.

Now coming to the ship that is keeping the show sailing - Kaira. I was not immediately a fan. I enjoyed the tar-tar in Rishikesh. But the Kaira relationship wasn't for lack of a better word, obvious to me. Yes, they were squabbling. Yes, he loved her strong moral compass. Yes, he helped her family. Yes, he was a great human. But there wasn't a lot of real conversation that happened between them. Kartik's dream sequences, some of which were really good - there was a Radha Krishna one I think which was sensuous, were still dreams. He probably had a lot of reasons to fall for her, but it happened far too quickly for me. I know love is supposed to be quick and easy, but I wish there was a little more communicating that happened. And this is a major reason, why I liked Naira rejecting Kartik. A girl with severe abandonment issues did not want to think of him as beyond a friend. Kartik constantly pushing Naira for an answer didn't help too. And she was bound to react that way - outright rejecting him. But he'd gradually seeped into her existence - there was a sequence like Jaanam dekhlo from Veer-Zaara and I loved it. That's why I loved how Naira's realisation unfolded - gradually.

So, when exactly did I really start adoring the couple? Nope, it wasn't their confession or Yash-Rose's wedding scenes. It was actually, when Naira and Kartik are taken hostage and they are squabbling, fighting - only this time not with each other, but for each other. 'Yeh maal hai, par sirf mera' is one line that I absolutely love! And another scene, I really loved - the Yaha Waha sequence at the engagement. I loved how it was shot. Those two are major stand out Kaira moments for me.

To be honest, I wasn't sure the show could survive not having Akshara (the character) and Akshara - Naitik (the original actors), but I was pleasantly surprised. The introduction of the Goenka family is interesting. The significance of the Maheshwari's post Akshara's death is something I'm looking forward to. And one major thing that's working in the shows favour? Good acting. All the actors are so good. Naitik is fab - he has fit in so well as a father of two grown kids. Swarna Goenka is a character that I'm enjoying. And I know that Naira will ease the distance between the stepmother and son duo, but I just want her to give Kartik a push, he should do the bridging the gap together, with Swarna. Manish Goenka is another interesting character - him bursting out laughing reading the kachodi message was so much fun. It's going to be interesting watching the Goenka-Maheshwari-Singhania dynamic. I hope Naitik stands up for his in-laws, I would like it more than Naira-Kartik doing it (they definitely have too many problems to deal with 😆). And finally, Naksh. I'm looking forward to what happens with the character. Initially when Kirti was to be paired with the old Naksh, I found it to be a complete mismatch. But now, since the new actor shows so much promise, I'm looking forward to the Kirti-Naksh relationship too.

With this new journey with the Goenka family entry, the show has opened up many new windows. And I'd say, bring it on.

P.S. Since Mansi's track opens up Akshara's death sequence again, can we please have a scene where Naira breaks down with Kartik? Since they mixed up Kartik getting arrested with Akshara's death, that entire track was treated very shabbily. I want Naira to let herself be vulnerable with Kartik.

P.P.S. Kudos if you've made it this far. This post is way too long.😆

This is so well-written!
I started following the show post the Rishikesh leap. Naira as a character interested me because it was refreshing to see someone who was not trying to be perfect all the time. She makes mistakes, she is stubborn, but these things only made her more human. And she is quick to accept it.
The comparison between her and her mother infuriates her. She almost strives hard to actively not be like her mother. She definitely has grown since then. Now she feels a sense of pride for being Akshara's daughter. I just hope they keep her essence and her spunk intact in future which is what makes her unique.
And contrast that with Kartik's character, who was almost perfect. He always did the right thing, was always there for her, was so nice that her whole family fell in love with him before Naira did.

I agree with you that there wasn't a lot of 'real' conversation between them. But Naira did show her vulnerable side to him even though he didn't know her story entirely. In fact, he was the only person who noticed and got to see that side of her most times. Kartik, on the other hand, was pretty much a closed book till recently.
I have loved the gradual growth in their relationship. Also I think this has been one of the first times where fans actually loved the female lead's "rejection" because it was handled so beautifully.

All the new actors are so apt and showing a lot of promise. This new family has actually brought a breath of fresh air to the show. Everyone is doing a great job.
And I am so glad that it is attracting more viewers of all ages.

Hope to see you around the forum more! 😊

Great post.

I have watched the show since the beginning but I had never been a fan. It was a good show that I appreciated for its positivity, but somehow I wasn't able to connect.

Than Rishikesh leap happened and Naira's character gave me the connect, she was not miss perfect, she was like me. A normal girl, not like the superwomans we see on TV. A girl who made a terrible mistake of misinterpretating her mother's conversation with the police and ended up leaving her house because of that. She made every member of her family yearn for her for seven years but at the same time she gave love to all those in the ashram working as a guide to provide for them. She may have said she may have said she hated her mother, but when she thought those goons had done something to Akshara, she became fearful for her mother's safety, she hits those goons and showed her protective sherni avtaar for her mother. She came back to Singhania mansion not for her family that lived there, but for her family that lived at Rishikesh. The fact that she went back to Udaipur just for the ashram though she didn't want too, showed how much the people of the ashram meant too her, that is why I was never irked with her because a girl who can love people she has no relation with to this extent than when she begins to show love and care towards her own family, that love and care will know no bounds.

Time passed and Naira realized her mistake. I love that scene, the way she was put in the same situation as Akshara. The way she slowly understood that her mother was right in her place. Her apology and Akshara forgiving her. I remember Karthik and Naksh smiling as they looked at the mother daughter duo. It was such a beautiful scene. I loved the way Naira tried to make it up to Akshara, by setting up that bed sofa thing in the middle of Singhania House. She didn't just apologize and think her mother's pain would vanish, she made an effort to ease it.

Papa and princess bonding is one of the loveliest. The scene after Naitik is rescued and Naira goes to have a talk with him telling him how much Akshara missed him, it was a lovely papa and princess bonding scene but at the same time it was one that makes you realize a growth in Naira's character, from a girl who couldn't see her mother's pain even though her mother kept on asking her to comeback to a girl who noticed her mother missing her father though her mother never complained to her about it. Though I connected with Naira at the very beginning, I fall more love with her as each episode goes by.

Coming to Kaira, I really don't know when I fell so hard for them. I enjoyed the scenes since the very beginning but I have no idea when I got hooked. Their journey was most amazing to me. To stranger who meet and start off on the wrong foot, there tar tar was such an enjoyment. Than Karthik began falling in love, I wouldn't say it was all of a sudden. It is said absence makes the heart grow founder, I found the same happening with him, he missed Naira when they were separated which is noticed in his first scene at Udaipur when he looks a her bracelet and remembers Der , at Yash and Rose he questioned his own feelings as to why tar tar became musical for him. Then there was the scene where Naira gets to know that Karthik is not related to Kholis, you can see the pain in his eyes as she calls him a fraud. It was then at the church he confessed his feelings towards her, it wasn't out of the blue, he started off with fighting with her, that became the norm for him, they were separated he began missing her but didn't know why, they met again they fought again but this time you could see his care, like when he hit her with the ball and she got extra hurt, you could see the concern in his eyes as well as the guilt, he was falling, falling for a girl who loved her family, falling for a girl with a golden heart, he feel in love with the way she stood up for pungi against anmol and when she spoke against him during kholi fiasco he must have realized how much her words affect him.

Yes though I was a bit impatient for Kaira to be official, I liked the fact that Naira rejected first because her side of the realization hadn't been shown, yes a few scenes were there that showed us Naira is in love and that too very deeply, I mean which girl will dream romantically about a guy she thinks has kidnapped her father, if she has not fallen in love with him. But than it was while she was sleeping not in her conscious state. Her realization scene was lovely, the way she became all protective for the ring and then finally realizing if Karthik's given ring is so important to her than Karthik was her whole life and love. Like Naira and I every day fall more in love with Kaira.

I am too looking for the bond between Goenka-Maheshwari-Singhania. Goenkas are a whole different bunch of people and I am waiting for all of there to be explored.

Yes I too want to scene where Karthik consoles Naira as she breaks down.

I actually liked naira's rejection of karthik and her realisation because it all made so much sense. Naira is impulsive by nature and so has the tendency to hurt the people she loves and cares about because of her impulsive behaviour and trust issues, so for her to get into another relationship and that too, one that is so emotionally intimate as love is something that she feels she still doesn't have the maturity to maintain that realtionship, which explains her rejection for karthik. This reason is also combined with the fact that she mistaked her feelings for karthik as being friendship and so didn't want to lose the only friend she has ever had.

But it isn't as if the love realisation for her was out of the blue. There were a few instances during her nok jhok and friendship moments with karthik where he would give her hints to his feelings for her, and it was clear from her facial expressions and eyes that she felt a spark or was experiencing something for karthik when he would drop her hints but would quickly snap out of it not understanding what was actually happening. She always felt comfortable with him, and her friendship with him made her feel more comfortable with him to the point she could vent her feelings to him and be herself around him, that she didn't realise that she had become accustomed to his company, so when she rejected him and he began distancing himself from her, she started feeling strange and distressed that she herself would end up going closer to him, only to be pushed away by him due to how her rejection had hurt him.

After all the attempts to avoids her, he completely goes away from her and even cuts off any communication with her. It is then that she realises how much she needs him and how important his presence has become to her, and the ring that he gave her being stolen by those goons was what finally made her realise that she needs him in her life and why she needs him. Where she couldn't even bear the pain of having his ring taken from her, she realised she couldn't bear being away from him. That is how she realised his love, and hence her love realisation has always been gradual.

I absolutely love this trait of Naira - she is not larger than life. She reacts exactly how people normally would, which is what makes it easy to relate to her.
The comparison between her and her mother infuriates her. She almost strives hard to actively not be like her mother. She definitely has grown since then. Now she feels a sense of pride for being Akshara's daughter. I just hope they keep her essence and her spunk intact in future which is what makes her unique.
She detested her mother's perfection. Little did she know that, her mother had been through so much in the past too and her mother's attitude came from years of experience. Eventually, she realises how it was to have been put in her mother's shoes during her dance performance. And from then on, she learns to accept that they're two different individuals. She may not make the same choices as her mother, but she would always make choices that her mother would be proud of.

I wish they address this again. Does he still know about her pre-Rishikesh life? Just a scene showing Naira comfortable sharing her past with Kartik would be nice, especially since she's reached that stage now.
Kartik, on the other hand, was pretty much a closed book till recently.
I have loved the gradual growth in their relationship. Also I think this has been one of the first times where fans actually loved the female lead's "rejection" because it was handled so beautifully. Yeap! The rejection to realisation journey is something I really enjoyed.

I don't have any complaints with Kartik falling in love with Naira quickly. One of the major plusses of Naira has always been her attractive personality. It drew him in. The earlier arguments and the transition to friendship was great - Two people who argued like crazy, begun seeing the good in each other. For me the friendship to the big L word happened a little suddenly. I wished they would have spoken with each other, actual real conversations (beyond the realm of family) help gauge how compatible you are with a person. I would have liked that. But nevertheless, it's a TV show, suspension of disbelief is a prerequisite. :P
And more than anything, Naira's entire struggle with her emotions helped me connect with the Kaira relationship. I guess, I'm a little biased to her character. 😆

I mostly watched it for amusement. :P I really liked the concept though, of love after marriage. Cause honestly, love doesn't happen for everybody, before marriage.

(Can you talk more about the pre-leap stuff? I tried finding the episode but I didn't have much patience to watch and I'm still hazy on why Naira left. And who is Sukanya? I saw a few posts on the forum but never bothered finding out much.) She made every member of her family yearn for her for seven years but at the same time she gave love to all those in the ashram working as a guide to provide for them. She may have said she may have said she hated her mother, but when she thought those goons had done something to Akshara, she became fearful for her mother's safety, she hits those goons and showed her protective sherni avtaar for her mother. Ditto. I feel like writing about Naira now. Let's see if I can make time for that. :D

Time passed and Naira realized her mistake. I love that scene, the way she was put in the same situation as Akshara. The way she slowly understood that her mother was right in her place. Her apology and Akshara forgiving her. I remember Karthik and Naksh smiling (heart explodes! It was such a familial feeling.)as they looked at the mother daughter duo. It was such a beautiful scene. I loved the way Naira tried to make it up to Akshara, by setting up that bed sofa thing in the middle of Singhania House. She didn't just apologize and think her mother's pain would vanish, she made an effort to ease it.
Yes, the whole pre-dance performance sequence with Chandu was a good way to make Naira reflect. And the bedroom sequence between N and A was again beautifully done - trying to catch up with their past. :)

The scene on the bench when she gets her father coffee, right? I especially felt proud seeing Naira grow up there and address the different relationships and their dynamics.

Definitely, I understand why he fell for her - she displayed such strength of character. And everything you've mentioned solidifies how she affected him, i just wish they'd gone a little deeper into the why.

Yes though I was a bit impatient for Kaira to be official, I liked the fact that Naira rejected first because her side of the realization hadn't been shown, yes a few scenes were there that showed us Naira is in love and that too very deeply, I mean which girl will dream romantically about a guy she thinks has kidnapped her father(hahaha, couldn't help it. It just sound so funny when you put it like that.😆), if she has not fallen in love with him. But than it was while she was sleeping not in her conscious state. Her realization scene was lovely, the way she became all protective for the ring and then finally realizing if Karthik's given ring is so important to her than Karthik was her whole life and love.
