Husband-wife in cameos in different shows
Priyanka Saini, who was last seen in Ninja Pandav, is stepping in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai next week as Sneha's mother. Priyanka has already started shooting for her part this week. The actress says, "It is a cameo that will last for four months. I'm playing Sharda, a widow who has lost her husband at young age. Thus she is pretty unhappy with her life. She is forced to be the head of her family. It is a positive character. It's interesting to work for the production house of the show for which my husband is already working." Naveen Saini, who has been playing Veenu Bhaiya in Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai since the last three years, will be seen playing a cop called Rudrapratap Yadav in Aise Na Karo Vida on Colors. "It's the role of a cop which is expected to last three months. It will be interesting to shoot for Bidaai and Aise Na Karo Vida simultaneously. It's a strange co-incidence that both my wife and me have got cameos simultaneously in two different shows."
Serial on the lines of
Baghban on Sony
Buzz is that Sagar Arts is producing a show Vrit Kathaye for Sony. A daily soap, is scheduled to start from the first week of September. The serial is on the lines of the hit film Baghban and Dheeraj Dhoopar is playing a role similar to Salman Khan's in the film. Dheeraj is shown to be an orphan who is adopted and ends up being the devoted son of his foster parents. Anjum Farooqi plays his love interest in the serial. Incidentally, the last serial Dheeraj was seen in was Swarg Mata Pitah Ki Charnon Mein in which he played the main lead Ansh. In that serial, too, he played a obedient, dutiful son. "Yes, I know both the roles are similar but I am happy doing it. I think in this current, busy lifestyle it's important to inculcate positive values and this serial will do that in an entertaining way," says Dheeraj.
Back together
Angad Hasija, who plays Alekh in Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai and Sara Khan who played Sadhna in the show before she quit, will be seen together in a special televised event to be telecast on Star Plus on August 15. Both have been rehearsing together. The duo is performing on Mil ke bhi hum na mile from Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani. Incidentally, Sara has been approached to be part of Bigg Boss.
Sayantani, Mishal shoot for Raaz Pichale...
As we had mentioned earlier, the shoot for Raaz Pichale Janam Ka 2 commenced last week and more than a couple of episodes have been shot. Sayantani Ghosh is one of the celebs who has shot for the show. She fears heights and wanted to find out the reason. Incidentally, the Bengali actress is acting in one of Imagine's shows Rakt Sambandh. Mishal Raheja is the other actor who shot for the show. Apart from these two celebs, some episodes with common people have also been shot.
Rajesh Khanna, Dimpy Mahajan in Bigg Boss 4?
Rajesh Khanna, Dimpy Mahajan, bar dancer Tarannum, Davinder Singh aka bunty chor (the thief who inspired Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!) and Sara Khan are some of the names Colors is hoping to lock in for Bigg Boss 4. Khanna definitely seems to be a reality show favourite with Imagine. The channel also approached the yesteryear superstar for their past life regression therapy show Raaz Pichale Janam Ka. It will be interesting to know which show Khanna finally makes an appearance in, the Salman Khan hosted Bigg Boss or Raaz.. which will reveal his past life or both!
Kathak is Mona Wasu's passion
Mona Wasu will be soon seen in Hum, the adaptation of the popular series Hum Log, that will be aired from August 15 on Doordarshan. Mona is playing Jyoti, a sensitive but strong city girl. Her character has just finished her medical degree and is looking forward to a bright future with her fiance. What happens to her dream is anybody's guess. Says Mona, "I am enjoying my work. Hum Log was story of one family while Hum is the story of a village. It is on larger scale. My character is different from what I have done so far." Besides acting, Mona is also busy learning Kathak from her Guru Vijayshree Chaudhary who is a student of Pundit Birju Maharaj. "I have kept aside three hours everyday to complete a passion that was left incomplete at a young age." Mona Wasu is an actor from National School of Drama and has done theatre.
Chocolate boy plays hijra
Dhruv Bhandari, son of actor Mohan Bhandari, didn't think twice before accepting the role of a Hijra in Rakt Sambandh. Known for his chocolate boy looks, the debutant insists that he wanted a challenging role. Quite confident that his character will be well-accepted by the audiences, Bhandari says that initially when he was offered the role he was petrified. But it was his dad who coaxed him to accept the role. He says, "Dad told me that if I can perform well, I'll stand a better chance of being offered good roles in the future. When this role was offered to me, I was on the lookout for a role where I could stand out. I didn't want to play a good boy on television. I wanted something challenging. When I heard the script of Rakt Sambandh, I felt the the role was a challenge, one that I couldn't refuse." Bhandari insists that Yuvraj, the character he plays in the serial, is a normal man apart from his genetic disorder. " I had to research a lot to be able to get into my character. I read a lot of stuff online. I also wanted to meet eunuchs but decided not to, as I didn't want to upset them by asking them about the problems they face."
