You know normaly no one wears it everyday except in TV serials. Main Ekta Kapoor serials is what propularied that and sindoor. Gujarati people do not do either so maybe it is custom in Rajistan too not to wear mangalsutra's.

I am not sure if I agree with Sonal (sorry)... I am gujarati I know we all were magalsutras .. don't necessarily do sindoor everyday. I'm married and I wear my mangalsutra everyday.... so do most of my friends even though we are in United States.

As for Rajasthanis I know they do not have a custom of wearing magalsutras

Manglasutra is not a must in marwari families. You may have one but you are not supposed to wear it everyday.

Swetha , they all live in Udaipur , Rajasthan,India.
Managlsutra is not a every day wear. It is an optional even in Gujarat, India. Not too many of ladies wear it. Sindoor only when I go to temple from their kumkum.

Marwari's and Rajasthani's in general do not wear the Mangalsutra...but most of them definitely put on sindoor and a toe ring which symbolizes married status for a woman.

YRKKH showcases the Marwari culture pretty authentically!

In most Brahmin families down South, the Mangalsutra is the living symbol of a woman's married status and its considered blasphamous to remove it even once after marriage.

may be Rajasthanis don't have a custom of wearing mangalsutra..

i belong to a punjabi family n mangalsutra is a must for us (at least during the wedding ceremony..for sometime) but i've never worn it..Infact here in Chandigarh if some girl is wearing mangalsutra then ppl. start staring ! I'm a bit conservative n i have a liking for it, that's why i purchased it for myself but i hardly wear it 😊
I'm glad at least 1 serial is free from the trap of mangalsutras !
