I was searching something on Google then came across this question:
Why do some people address themselves as hum in Hindi instead of main. Is not hum plural?
In excitement tried to find answer of this question as it is related to me also like Siddhant n the answer is here:
Few people, particularly from Lucknow or near by cities inculcate this habit of addressing themselves as Hum.
The reason lies in the Tehzeeb of Lucknow. Lucknow People use to be so polite, humble and decent that they will address every third person as aap, not Tu or Tum.
Similarly, they address them self as Hum. It is nothing but a habit inculcated, going by grammarr, it is wrong but Hum Lucknow wale aise hi hain. It has just became a style.
