I am a Bengali and i recently watched an episode of this serial where they showed a ritual called doibhat. I wish the director/actors did some research before showing this on national television and misleading audiences about Bengal. There is one ritual which is is called 'dodhimangal' which takes place early morning before sunrise on the day of the marriage but separately in the groom and bride's houses wherein the family members feed them curd and flattened rice (called chirwa) since both the bride and groom have to fast the whole day till the marriage ceremony (pheras and garland ceremony) is over. Rice and fish definitely DO NOT play a part in this ritual. You cannot eat fish/nonveg before sitting for a puja, since the marriage ceremony is no less than a puja. Also bride and groom CANNOT see each other on the day of the marriage till the baraat comes to the bride's house since it is considered inauspicious.
The serial showed the bride and groom happily sitting together and the bride's mother feeding the groom fish at dawn on the marriage day !!!!!!!!!!!! Gimme a break...this does not happen in any Bengali househole...Brahmin/Kayasth whatever....we found the episode SO FUNNY and MISLEADING....I dont know what people are thinking about Bengalis now!!!!!!!!!
Also I dont understand why is eating non veg SUCH a BIG deal for UP Brahmins???

there was a discussion on this issue before also.. it is really interesting to know that Bengalese are not aware of their own state customs.. 🤢
