Somebody please enlighten me. What is the need of a TV show if the characters are perfect and do nothing wrong? A genuine question- are any of us perfect in the “real world”? We have all said things and done things time to time that we regret. Heck I even say or do things on a daily/weekly basis that I regret later on. But you know what IS important. Me learning from those mistakes. Me becoming a better person than I was before. That is important.

Now coming to our show. Rudraksh has and is about to go through hell. From abuse to losing the ONLY person he truly loved and who loved him back (his brother) this boy has gone through it all. He has always been surrounded by so many family members YET felt alone. UNTIL Preesha came in the picture. Preesha changed him for the better and the impact she had on him is obvious. This boy has always believed since the beginning that you can never trust any woman. Literally his exact line in the start. HOWEVER, he slowly started falling for Preesha and trusted her even if it meant leaving his entire family. IMAGINE. JUST IMAGINE. Doing all of that for this girl who supposedly killed your brother. Yet, he did it due to one word. Trust. Now that trust has been shattered into pieces. Worst of all you figure out she doesn’t even love you but loves her ex still. That would shatter anyone. He is bound to react in impulsion and anger. Rudraksh is alone YET again. He has nothing now. Not even his career. Everything is GONE.

Some of his actions in the upcoming episodes we might dislike BUT let’s remember that we are not in his position and that he isn’t perfect. Imagine never receiving love or happiness ever and just when you THINK you have found love you once again are slapped in the face. That’s Rudra’s life right there. Also, about physical abuse. Can we stop cribbing about things like him gripping her shoulder or head while talking and stuff?!! Do I condone physical abuse? NO! This boy is angry and honestly rightfully so. He could be doing some extreme things right now and gripping her shoulder is the least of it.

And for GOD'S SAKE can we stop saying “This is an Ekta show” every other minute. It so incredibly annoying when every other show is doing worse than us in terms of storyline. PLUS, this show has proved several times before that it isn’t the typical Ekta show.

Lastly, I understand this is supposed to be a place where we are supposed to be having a discussion about the show but a kind request can we try to keep the discussion more healthy rather than cribbing about extremely minute things all the time?

If you have read this far thank you lmao. Also, I do have to say that most of the people on here are very positive. This is just to the people that aren't. smiley2

Thank you for making this thread. This is completely needed right now and everything you said is perfect. I was seeing people already start claiming Rudra was being physical. It seems like these days all people want from TV shows is for the leads to be perfect.

New member here. Happy to read this post. I started watching recently. Rudraksh has been one of the best ML I have seen. He was never really an angry young man unlike what other MLs have been usually shown as. He was somewhat of a playboy but again even that he was nothing too extreme. Very happy with him till now.

Thank you for making this thread. Very much needed.

I love the topics name: why do you guys keep complaining?

-Please no manhandling

-please no physical abuse

-please no verbal abuse

-why does ekta do this ALWAYS

-why such regressive message

I get that this forum is a platform for discussion but when people start saying the same thing over and over- it becomes something called nagging.

Is Abuse okay? Of course it isn’t!!!!

But how does one show any sort of character redemption or progress if they depict Picture perfect characters? As some people want here.

Rudra from the beginning has been established as a troubled boy. He’s found love in Preesha. He has gone against everything and supported her. He feels he’s been heavily betrayed as Rahul touched his Achilles heel

I think the writers have done an amazing job making this a very realistic MU.

And a realistic MU will have a realistic reaction. We don’t know yet what will happen in the episode, if he will grab her or not.

But we know this when two people have a heated discussion, we all say and do things that we might regret later. That’s exactly what will happen to rudra.

Sure he may say bad things and be a little physically aggressive but that doesn’t mean it’s a conveying a wrong message. It would convey a wrong message, if two episodes later Rudra and Preesha start singing in the mountains. They won’t. This is going to be a journey. And Rudra is going to be angry but yes once MU is resolved, it will lead to a heavy redemption track. And that’s the message right there!!!! We make mistakes and we learn from them.

These are realistic characters.

We cannot expect them to be gods. Have you all forgotten Raman Bhalla? This is rudraksh Khurrana and he is NOT abusive. Rudra is passionate. He will be passionate in his anger and in love equally. He will make mistakes and he will learn from them. Even the lord ram made mistakes, put Sita thru Agni pariksha, does that mean we don’t worship him?

Please guys. It may be hard, but can we crib a little less?

Life isn’t picture Perfect and humans aren’t.

So why expect fictional characters to be perfect too???? What story will be left then?

Thank you so much for this post. I agree with every single word of yours and I would like to throw in my two cents as well.

Let me first address the issue of "physical abuse". I find it to be rather amusing that certain people are so quick to throw the word "abuse" around when it comes to Rudra while ignoring the actual abuse which happened in the show. The physical and emotional abuse which Rudr,Rajeev and Sharda were subjected to by Balraj. It is abuse when a person in a position of power inflicts pain or injury to someone more vulnerable than themselves. It is an extremely sensitive matter and it must not be used trivially or out of context.

About Rudraksh as a character,I have said this before and I will say it again. He isn't perfect. He never was. That's not how his character graph was written. While we cannot use his flaws as a justification for the actions he has committed or might commit in future,we can atleast try to understand the way his mind works and his psyche. For all I can see,Rudra is the most transparent and, yet, layered character of the show.He started off a rude yet traumatized rockstar, spiralled down a misguided path after losing the only person he loved but ended up transforming in ways which were unimaginable to him before. His character development has been exemplary and yet barely acknowledged. There were infinite chances for him to go down the predictable ITV male lead route. Be it the moment when he witnessed Yuvraj and Preesha in the same room or when that video got leaked.Yet his trust on her remained firm and unshakeable. He left gave up on the anger which had clouded his mind and let better sense prevail when he accepted that Preesha couldn't have murdered his brother.

But he is,at the end of the day,a human being. He is a human being with weaknesses of his own. In a previous post,I had mentioned that Rudra is cut from the same cloth as Raman. Raman (ignoring how he was brutally butchered in the later phases of YHM) was one of the most fascinating characters I had ever come across on TV.He was smart, sarcastic and practical for most of the times except for when he was swayed by emotions. His fatal flaw was his insecurity and the thought that he wasn't good enough for the woman he loved. This flaw was the outcome of the betrayal he had received which left its scars on him.In Rudr's case,it's his insecurities as well but they are deeply rooted in him since his childhood. The way I see it,Balraj's behaviour made him lose faith in himself and led him to believe that he is unlovable. But when Preesha took a stand for him,it made the child within Rudr feel protected and safe. From that very moment,he latched on to her and inadvertently ended up placing her on the same pedestal as he did with his brother. For him,she is all he has right now.She is his family as well as his home. Naturally his greatest fear would be to lose her,or worse,to not have his feelings returned. From his perspective,he has never received any reassurance from Preesha that she returns his feelings. He always had this underlying worry that she is sticking by his side only for Saraansh's sake and not for him as an individual. It could be evident in that dream sequence of his in which she slaps and leaves him after his confession. Sure it appeared hilarious to us then but it also showed what he fears the most.It is this weakness of his which was exploited by Rahul. This is his Achilles Heel. As a result of that,he ended up snapping due to the volatile side of his nature which took over.

Am I saying that whatever he says or does from now onwards will be right because he is flawed? Certainly not.He will make mistakes in future. Both him and Pree will end up making mistakes. But what matters the most is that they will learn from them and emerge stronger. As long as we are able to understand the reason for their behaviour, the show will continue to remain interesting.Flaws in characters exist in order to add more conflict to the story. It is this conflict which makes the drama more interesting. This is what the entire story is about. It's about how two imperfect characters overcome their flaws together.

Lastly, this is an Ekta show. There is no denying that. But this isn't the Ekta of recent days whose shows lack soul.As someone who has grown up watching tv shows,I see traces of the old Balaji shows in YHC whose characters are layered and intense instead of being unidimensional. Many flawed yet fascinating characters who displayed tremendous growth in due course of the story came from this PH. Therefore dismissing Rudra and disregarding his character's nuances just because he is an "Ekta ML" seems rather illogical to me. Of course a time will come when YHC will go downhill like every other ITV show. But with all due respect, that time is still far away. I believe this track will give a damn interesting turn to RuSha's journey and will be the first major test for their relationship.Eventually they will emerge stronger post this adversity.

Very well said @ishgur. I even had to make an account yesterday to make some positive posts so that the negativity bias of the forum becomes a bit balanced

I don't know what's the logic of screaming Ekta show show to degrade a show every now & then.. what are people's idea about Rashmi Sharma show, Rajan shahi show, Gul Khan super natural shows or some unknown PH shows that are far worse... 99% of ITV shows turn crap after 100-150 episodes, only a few like YHC have atleast some story left even after 6 months.. People should just judge shows based on their merit & storyline not just blindly criticize bc of PH & lame assumptions.. As much as I hate Ekta, she do have some good writers who made amazing love stories during 90's & 2000's.. YHC till now belongs to that category for me..

P.S I will request everyone who are capable of making positive post to please make more such post next week. That's the only way. Otherwise the forum will be filled with just negativity next week.. A lot of new viewers are joining the show/ forums, please don't create a very negative environment to chase them out

First up, thank you for making your account haha. We need more people like you here ;) Second up, I couldn't agree more!! It does certainly get annoying when you keep on hearing phrases like "Oh you are watching an Ekta show. I pity you" or "It's an Ekta show. It's bound to get ruined." To be incredibly honest, this show has already proved itself. It has sustained this long and STILL has so much story to it unlike several other TV shows!! In fact, the REAL story hasn't even started yet if you really think about it and it's already gripping!!

And indeed, LOTS of people have been joining recently and I would hate for them to turn away seeing negativity on here! This show is currently doing FAR BETTER than several other shows out there. Let's please not turn away the new audience by nitpicking. Spread positivity please!! Our episodes have SO many positive elements to them that we can talk about rather than talking about 1 or 2 negative things that are present in the episodes. :)
