Chapter Four

Raman's party was going on and all his friends were there. Shagun had not left anything out, and had spent so much to ensure that he would be happy when he walked in. They had been in Goa for close to 4 months and she had hoped that their relationship had evolved enough for Raman to start thinking about them on a more serious note. But every time he did things like this, it made her restless. She became impatient because she had been waiting for him to show all night but with not hope and it was getting late

'Hey, are you sure he is coming...'' Said Vandu

'Yes, he will... He has to...'' She said as she looked in the direction of the door

'Maybe we should call him again...'' Said Simmi

'You think I have not tried that'' Said Shagun

'Listen I know you do not want to hear this but the time they gave us for this place is...'' Vandu began

'Shut it, I practically own the hotel...'' Said Shagun irritated and Vandu put her hands up leaving her

'What's up...'' Said Romi who made his way to where Shagun was

'Where is he...'' Said Shagun angrily

'Where is who...'' Asked Romi

'Raman... Where the hell is Raman'' Said Shagun

'Uhh... I think he is on the second floor. He said since he is leaving first thing tomorrow morning for a meeting in Delhi, he wanted to get some rest in...'' Said Romi casually

'What...'' Said Shagun

'What... I thought he told you...'' Said Romi but Shagun just turned walking out angrily

'What happened...'' Said Romi

'Your brother is an ass...'' Said Rinky

'Somehow I assume you girls should know that by now...'' Said Romi turning as he walked away

Shagun was filled with fury as she made her way to the second floor where Rama's room not believing he had stood her up. He did not even have the decency to let her know that he would not make it; none the less to a party she had specifically planned for him. How dare he?

'Bang... Bang... Bang...'' But there was no response

'Bang... Bang... Ba ...'' And the door flung open

'What the hell...'' Said Raman surprised that Shagun was there he added

'The hell is the matter with you, are you drunk...''

'Excuse me...'' She said

'What do you want...'' He asked

'Raman...'' She said but he turned trying to close the door and she pushed him barging in

'Ahhh...'' Said Raman as he closed his door leaving her

'What is it...'' He asked but Shagun began to cry instead as she sat down

He stood leaning on the door arms across his chest as he watched her seemingly unaffected by what was going on. Shagun looked up at him realizing and not believing that he indeed had no intension of going out that night. He was dressed in a grey jersey pajama sleep pants and a white t-shirt his hands still across his chest completely unaffected

'Raman... What do you take me for...'' She said

'I do not know what you mean by that...'' He said

'Why aren't you down stairs...'' She asked

'Why should I be their'' He said

'Seriously...'' She said her eyes filling with tears

'What... You have to be more specific with what you're saying otherwise get out I need to sleep'' He said

'Wow... What do you take me for...'' She said standing up

'I put together a party for you downstairs and you could not even be bothered to show up. How can you treat me like that...? How can you, Is it because I love you more so I am worthless to you...'' She added crying

'Oh My God I am too sober for this conversation'' He said as he walked away from the door

'Shagun... What are you doing'' He added

'I wanted to celebrate...'' She began but he cut her off

'No ... I mean, why are you acting like a girlfriend right now?'' He said

' What... 'She said

'It is very unattractive and to be honest a bit bothersome ...'' He said

'Well then what am I supposed to be then 'she asked

' I do not think you should be asking me that. You are not as Innocent as you seem Shagun ...'' He said

'What is that supposed to mean'' she asked

'Shagun ... Really'' He said with a smirk on his face

'If you have something to say to me just say it'' She said

'I know ...'' He Said

'You know what '' she asked

'About Shlok'' He said

'Wha ...'' she said taken back

'Am not mad... I mean not anymore'' He said

'What the hell are you talking about'' she said

'Okay, get out we shall talk once we got back to Delhi. Is that Okay ...'' He said

'No ...'' She said

'Fine suit yourself ...'' He said

'Raman...'' she said

'Do you want to have some fun. I am not going back to sleep anyway'' He said

'Excuse me ...''She said as though she was shocked

'What you do not want to ...'' He said covering the distance between them as he pulled her in

Shagun knew that with this continued behavior of theirs, there was no way he would ever take her seriously. She would otherwise always be that girl for him. The one he only needed when he wanted a sex Partner. It was so belittling of her and yet she somehow always consoled herself into believing he would come around, he would love her, he would learn to care for her and adore her like he used to and just like always, and she gave into his demands and allowed him lead her to his bed.

Vandu had stayed behind to make sure that everything was taken care of and last minute payments were being handled. She looked for Shagun as she wanted to make sure that her friend was alright given sometimes her encounters with Raman were not always that good. She walked to the hotel lobby to try and check if she was there

'Where the hell is she...'' Said Vandu talking to herself

'I think she went to Raman and I have a feeling she ain't coming back now...'' Said Romi

'Ohh, I see...'' Said Vandu turning to him

'Why... What is it? I could help...'' Said Romi

'No... I just wanted to make sure she was alright... She put in a lot of effort for that party'' Said Vandu

'Uhh, but am sure she is happy with the outcome,'' Said Romi chuckling naughty

'I am so sure I do not want to know what that means'' Said Vandu smiling

'Anyway I will see you later, maybe...'' He said

'Oh... You have some place to be...'' Said Vandu

'Not really I was just heading in... Why'' He asked

'We could go out for coffee if you want...'' She said

'Uhh...'' He said

'I mean if you're not busy...'' She said

'Yeah... You know what, I could use a cup of coffee, maybe two'' He said smiling at her as he added

'Let me just grab something from reception''

'Sure...'' Said Vandu and she stood waiting

She had met Romi when she was 12 years old. They went to the same school. It was around that time that her life had started to change, that she was finally in with the rich, it was her first elite school she had ever been to and she was so out of place because everything seemed new and strange. The kids knew that too and they gave her a hard time, until she met Romi.

In a way he had become her protector since and school stopped being a place she dreaded because she looked forward to spending time with him. That is how that crush started and to date has never died away. The only problem was that even now, just like then, he only saw her as a friend, as a sister and that was that.

She always said she would maybe just let him know that she had feelings for him and she would gain the courage to go for what she wanted but she always feared what that would do to their friendship and so she stayed in the friendship zone for all those years.

'Come on let's go...'' Said Romi smiling at her as he took her back pack

'I can carry...'' She said and he insisted

'Come on, I am a gentleman you know...'' He said smiling at her as he led the way making her heart melt
