Kasautii Zindagi Kay
Karan debuted in Star Plus and Balaji Telefilms' popular show, Kasautii Zindagi Kay in 2005. His character's name was Karan who pretended to be in love with Mukti (Tina Parekh). Karan's journey on the small screen started off with negative shades unlike what it seems to be now!
Kesar
Next, Karan was again seen on Star Plus and Balaji Telefilms' Kesar where he played the character of Ryan. Although this was not a lead character role, Karan managed to make his mark as Ryan and continued to impress Balaji Telefilms.

Karam Apnaa Apnaa
Star Plus and Balaji Telefilms' Karam Apnaa Apnaa saw Karan playing a negative role again. His character's name was Vivaan. He was Samar's (Yash Tonk) cousin who wanted to take over Samar's property and wealth
Kasamh Se
Zee TV and Balaji Telefilms' Kasamh Se saw Karan as the lover boy, Rohit, who was not a completely positive character. This time he had grey shades to offer to the viewers.
Kasturi
Star Plus and Balaji Telefilms' Kasturi was Karan's first show in a lead role. He played Robbie Sabharwal, an arrogant, bratty, and hugely popular rock star who was used to getting things his way. Karan's fan base grew tenfold after this role as girls fell in love with Robbie.
Nach Baliye
He took part in the dance reality show, Nach baliye season three. He was paired with his Baliye, Amita Chandekar and they made it to the fourth position on the dace reality show
Survivor India
Karan also took part in the challenging reality game show, Survivor India. It is inspired by the American show, Survivors, where contestants are isolated in the wilderness and they compete with each other for cash and other prizes.
Teri Meri Love Stories
Star Plus came out with 90 minute telefilm format that told an assortment of love stories. Karan featured in the fourth episode along with Sargun Mehta (of Balika Vadhu). His character's name was Yug Saxena
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa
Karan participated in the sixth season of the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. He went into the show as a wildcard entry
Yeh Hai Mohabbatein
In 2013, he teamed up with Star Plus and Balaji Telefilms to bring the hit show, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. Karan plays the character Raman, who is a divorcee. He has custody of his daughter, Ruhi (Ruhanika Dhawan). He marries Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi) for the sake of his daughter and eventually ends up falling in love with her. Raman is positive character with some grey shades. He can be ruthless when his loved ones are affected. Raman is also famous for his one liners! Yeh Hai Mohabbatein turned out to be one of the latest big success stories for Star Plus. And the pair of Raman and Ishita has created quite a rage among the fans.
City Of Gold
Karan debuted in Bollywood with the film, City Of Gold in 2010. His character's name is Naru. The film is about mill workers and the atrocities towards them and that are ignored by the government. The film was produced by Arun Rangachari.
Shootout At Wadala
Karan then went on to do Shootout At Wadala in 2013, which is a crime thriller film. He played the character, Jamal, a bodyguard. The film was produced by Sanjay Gupta, Anuradha Gupta, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor.
Awards
The very talented Karan Patel has been nominated for six awards. He has won five out of those. Karan won Best Actor (Popular) at the 7th Boroplus Gold Awards, Best Debut Jodi (with Divyanka Tripathi) at the Garv Indian TV Awards and he won Favorite Naya Sadasya, Favorite Jodi (with Divyanka Tripathi), and Favorite International Jodi at the 12th Star Parivaar Awards. He won all these awards for his role as Raman in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.
