Ruhi is laying in the middle of her parents' bed. She has her piggy bank in front of her and is counting. Raman walks in to the room and sees Ruhi counting. He was very curious.
Raman: Ruhi beta, what are you doing?
Ruhi: PAPA!! I am trying to see how much money I have. Help me count na papa. I don't know this many numbers.
Raman smiles at this daughter. He sits next to Ruhi and helps her count. Wow Ruhi you have 2000 rupees saved. Why are you counting the money today beta.
Ruhi: Papa, Tomorrow is Mother's Day. I want to buy a gift for Ishi Ma.
Raman: What do you want to get for her?
Ruhi: hmmm... I want to buy a cupboard for Ishima
Raman laughs and thinks this is because of Ishita told her Raman won't let share the cupboard.
Raman: Cupboard kyun beta?
Ruhi: You brought this cupboard before you got married and no place for both of you to keep your clothes. I want to get a big one for Ishi ma so that she has enough room.
Raman: Theek Hai but save this money. Papa will buy whatever you want to get.
He didn't want her to use up the money she saved when any of the relatives gave money. He also felt as if he needs to give a gift to Ishita for mother's day. He takes 500 from the piggy bank and gives it to Ruhi. He wanted Ruhi to have the satisfaction that she brought something for her mom. Raman tells her to keep it with her and they will get something with that money. He asks her to get ready so they can go shopping.
Ruhi and Raman head to the mall and they first go into a furniture store and pick out a cupboard. Raman asks the store to deliver it in the morning. Ruhi tells Raman that she wants it to be a surprise and to not tell Ishita. They go to Apple store next and buy a gold iphone for Ishita.
Raman asks Ruhi if she wants to go anywhere else. She tells him that they need to get a card and flowers. They head to the greeting card store and Ruhi picks out a card. She sees the section for mother's day cards from husband and forces Raman to get one and tells him that we will fill this out when we go home. They buy flowers as well. She tells him that she wants to buy it with her piggy bank money. They get everything they need and head towards their car.
Ruhi: Papa, Thank you! You took time to take me shopping even though you are busy.
Raman: Ruhi, you don't have to say thank you to your papa beta. I will always have time for you.
Ruhi: I love you papa.
Raman: I love you too beta.
Ruhi dozes off to sleep in the car. Raman reaches home and carries Ruhi upstairs. He puts the bags in Ruhi's room so that Ishita doesn't see and heads to his room.
Ishita is sitting on the bed watching a serial. Raman looks at the TV and shakes his head and gives her a what the hell are you watching look. Ishita rolls her eyes thinking it was so peaceful without the shani until now.Raman puts Ruhi on the bed and freshens up and grabs remote from Ishita.
Ishita: RAMAN, I am watching this.
Raman: Go watch in the living room. You are going to wake Ruhi up with all that rhona dhona and screaming.
He turns to the TV to stocks and turns on captions. He sits down on the other side of the bed.
Ishita: Go to hell
Raman: I told you last time itself that you can go first and I will be right there behind you.
Ishita glares at him and Raman is having fun with the teasing.
Raman: By the way what kind of wife are you. Your husband just got home and you are not even bothered about his dinner.
Ishita: You can go to bed hungry. I don't care.
Raman: Should I wake Ruhi up and tell her that you are not feeding me. I can play the same trick as you this morning regarding the cupboard.
Ishita just sits there with folded hands.
Raman: anways, seriously yaar I am hungry. I feel dizzy. I haven't eaten anything since breakfast. What's there to eat?
Ishita immediately calmed down as she can't keep fighting with a man who is hungry.
Ishita: mummyji made Channa masala. I will go heat it up.
Raman winces his eyes and says he is tired of eating channa masala. He asks her what she ate and she told him that she was waiting for him to come home so she can eat with him
Ishita asks him what he wants.
Raman: hmm..
Ishita: Raman, stop being a kid. You are hungry and you cant just sit here trying to figure out what to eat. Do you want dosa? I can go to Amma's house and get batter and I can make dosa for us.
Raman: That's prefect. I will help you. I will also learn how to make dosa.
Ishita gets batter from Amma's house and makes dosa for them both of them eat dinner together. They both head back to their room and Raman gave her the remote and told her that she can watch whatever she wants and he recorded the show she was watching earlier. Raman falls asleep. Ishita looks at both father and daughter how peaceful both of them look. She falls asleep after few minutes.
Ruhi wakes up the next day and heads to her room and sees the bag. She takes out the card and starts writing on it. Ishita and Raman are still sleeping. Ishita tries to find Ruhi in her sleep and starts moving closer to Raman and puts her hand on Raman. Raman feels the hand and think it is Ruhi and keep his hand on Ishita. Both of them continue to sleep enjoying the warmth of each other.Raman wakes up and in his sleepy eyes kisses Ishita's forehead thinking it is Ruhi. Ishita feels Raman's beard and wakes up in a shock. Raman realizes it was Ishita next to him.
Raman: Paagal what are you doing here. And were you sleeping next to me with my hand on you!
Ishita: RRAMAN... I thought you were Ruhi.
Raman: How how did you end up here? I can't sleep in peace in my own room. Ahh.
Raman storms off the bed.
Ishita sits there on the bed and touches her forehead where Raman kissed her. She couldn't help but blush.
Raman heads to the living room and sees his mom and wishes her happy mother's day. Toshiji tells him that he has given her the perfect gift for mother's day by taking his wife's side and destroying his own sister's life.
Raman : Maa please stop it. You have all the proof before you and you don't want to accept it. Anyways Ruhi is excited today to celebrate mother's day and I don't want anyone in this house to ruin her day.
Raman heads to Ruhi's room and opens the door. She signals Raman to come in and close the door. She finished writing the card and tells Raman to write his card. Raman gets a call from furniture store and they tell him that they are downstairs and ready to deliver the cupboard. He realizes that Ishita is still in the room so he tells them to bring it upstairs and to wait there for few minutes and then they can get it inside.
Ruhi: papa, we have to make breakfast for Ishima. What should we make?
Raman: hmmm..Ruhi, I have an idea. There is dosa batter from last night. I will make dosa and coffee.
Ruhi: Yay
Both father and daughter head into the kitchen to make dosa. Thanks to Ishita's lessons the dosa's are much better this time. Raman tells Ruhi to take the plate to the bedroom and surprise Ishima. Raman follows her behind. Ishita is still sitting on the bed feeling very lazy. She has been so busy the past few days and didn't realize today was mother's day.
Ruhi: Ishimaa!!
Ishita: Ruhi beta, Good morning and what is this
Ruhi hugs Ishita and gives her the plate.
Ruhi: Happy Mother's day Ishima.
Ishita was shocked. This was her first mother's day and she never ever expected this. Her eyes teared up and she hugged Ruhi. Thank you Ruhi Beta. Raman sees both of them and smiles.
Ruhi: Ishi ma eat dosa. Papa made these for you. And today papa and me have lot of surprises for you.
Ishita looks at Raman and mouths thank you for dosa. Raman blinks his eyes to say you are welcome. Ishita eats dosa and tells him that they came out very good.
Raman could hear the furniture people delivering and he asks Ishita to go take a shower so that they can go out. Ishita heads to the shower and Raman asks Romi to get up and help move the cupboard inside. Raman locks the bathroom door from outside so that Ishita can't come out. They finally get the cupboard inside. Raman goes and opens the bathroom door from the outside and thanks the gods that Ishita takes long showers.
Ruhi is jumping up and down in the room with excitement. Both father and daughter are waiting for Ishita to come to the room. Ishita comes in and Ruhi and Raman scream surprise! Ishita turns and see this brand new cupboard.
Ruhi: Happy Mother's day Ishima. This is your gift from me and papa.
Ishita is shocked and speechless. She picks up Ruhi and tearfully says thank you Ruhi. You made my first mother's day very special. I couldn't have asked for a better daughter than you. Ruhi kisses Ishita and gives her the mother's day card.
Raman: Happy Mother's day Ishita! He gives her the card he wrote. It reads
"Dear Ishita,
Happy Mother's day. I know we fight everyday and we can't even have a normal conversation without wanting to kill each other. However, I am always indebted to you for coming in to my life as Ruhi's mom. I did not have a loving relationship with Ruhi but you made me a better father. Before you came into my life I would dread to talk to Ruhi even on the phone. But now I can't wait to come home so that I can spend the day with my daughter. You are the reason for that Ishita. There was no words to describe how great of a mother you are. You are selfless and you sacrificed your happiness to become a mother to my daughter. She is now our daughter. I will always be thankful for that and thank you for coming into our lives.
Ishita couldn't even see clearly anymore as her eyes filled up with tears
Ruhi: PAPA. What did you write in that card? You made Ishi ma cry.
Ishita smiles and says no beta these are called happy tears. Ishita takes Raman's hand and thanks him for expressing his thoughts and this is one the best days of her life. Raman hugs her from the side and wishes her hhappy mother's day. The act and the hug was not Ruhi ke liye or Shagun ke liye. It was from Ruhi's papa to appreciate Ruhi's mother.
Raman: I have one more gift for you. He gives her a wrapped present and asks her to open it.
Ishita opens it and sees the gold iphone.
Raman: I don't want you to use that old phone. It has brought so many issues to you and me. Here is a new phone for a fresh start. I didn't know what type of phone your liked so I got this and if you don't like it we can go the store and exchange it.
Ishita: I love it Raman. Thank you!
Ruhi: Ishi Ma papa I have a gift for both you. She brings this big rectangular gift wrapped thing.
Ishita and Raman are very curious to see what it is.
Ruhi: both of you open it together.
It is a big picture frame of the three of them. Ruhi tells Raman to hang the frame on the wall behind the bed.
Ishita realizes that Raman would not want a picture of her in his room. She tells Ruhi that beta it's ok. We will keep it somewhere else.
Raman rolls his eyes and tells Ruhi to get the took kit
Ishita: Raman, you don't have to hang it. I know you don't want a picture of me in your room.
Raman: Paagal. Didn't I tell you yesterday that the house and room is yours? You are my daughter's mother. Your picture deserves to be in my room because you are my wife and we have a daughter.
Ishita smiles and Ruhi comes in with the tool kit and Raman fixes the frame on the back of the bed.
All three of them step back and took a look at the picture. Raman says it looks perfect. Ishita smiles to herself. She has finally made a permanent mark in Raman Kumar Bhalla's room. Soon enough she will make a mark in Raman Kumar Bhalla's heart but for now the picture on the wall is good enough.
