Chapter 5- Dirty talk.
"I'll be as dirty as I please, and I like to be dirty, and I will be dirty!"
Emily Bront, Wuthering Heights
"I am sorry."
They utter the words simultaneously and start laughing at the coincidence.
"What are you sorry for?" Raman asks her curious.
"For treating you so rudely now, I ... I was so angry Raman and I wasn't thinking. I shouldn't have said those things."
"You were right to be angry Ishita... and those words they were the truth, and I am sorry because those words ever had to come between us, for this entire thing. If I had known, Parmeet was such a person... God if only we knew all these things about him before we got Simi married to him."
"Didn't you or your family try to know anything about him before their marriage?"
"The proposal for Simi' marriage was sent to us by a common relative who vouched for Parmeet and his character, his family. Mama, papa arranged the meeting and Simi liked him instantly and they were married a month later."
"Oh."
They look at each other than, finally without any heartache or issues between them for the first time in days, and suddenly his face has a very amused expression amidst this,
"What?" she asks him inquiringly.
"Nothing much, I was thinking, if it isn't too much trouble for you do you mind getting off from my lap here? My legs have gone numb because of the cold floor and all that weight of yours."
She realizes she is indeed sitting on his lap, and her eyes widen in shock as her mouth drops open. Although how that happened escapes her mind. All she knows is when she started weeping he was there to hold her and the next thing she knew was she was sobbing profusely on his shoulder.
She almost jumps up from his lap as the realization sets in.
"Ouch, careful will you?" He scolds her when she elbows him in the gut.
"Sorry... I, I am not sure how I got there." Her voice is small with embarrassment and mortification.
"Yeah neither am I, all I know is... It seems to me you just can't spare any chance you get can you?" He teases her.
Her eyes narrow at his words.
"What is that even supposed to mean?"
The outrage in her voice, at his comment and insinuation has every other issue pushed back in her mind.
"It means... you cannot waste any opportunity you get." He retorts.
"Excuse me, are you drunk right now? Or have you finally lost it?"
"You were just in my lap did I smell of liquor to you? as for the IT..." his eyes take on a sudden gleam, as he continues, the familiar spark that he has whenever he teases her,
"Yeah I lost it a long time ago. I have two kids to prove that."
"Ewww, gross how can you turn anything and make it so dirty?" She wrinkles her nose in disgust at his comment.
"What can I say your company is that infectious?" He amusingly replies.
She is very offended by him now.
"YUCK!! That is so disgusting and I am not as you please, all this filth is a part of your dirty mind. I do not check people out when they talk; you do that. You said so to me last week before you left for Mumbai."
"Thank god you remember that! I hope you remember I asked you to lose weight too. What is your weight exactly... seems like a ton to me."
Her mouth drops at his audacity.
"How dare you? I weigh only 60 KGS you horrible man!"
"Only? 60? I don't believe it."
"I am not here to make you believe my weight. Besides you were the one who came here... you were responsible for me landing in your lap."
"Yeah right, like I could move a ton even if I tried!" he feels so, so happy with their norm restored. This feels easy, real, them. He can breathe easier.
"I told you I weight only 60 KGS!" She exclaimed.
"Trust me; from someone who just had to bear your entire weight... you weight anything but 60 KGS."
"You are horrible, absolutely horrible. I am not like you; I do not have a filthy mind as you do, so stop imagining things. I don't measure people like you do."
"That's why you can't seem to get enough of me? And please, I only happen to see what is in front of me, you, you are so way ahead of me in this aspect."
"What world do you exactly live in? Seriously you are so deluded." She asks him irritated.
"Right, I am deluded. You handed that box of condoms to me on our wedding night. Was that real or my delusion?"
"That was YOUR mistake; you made the wrong order at the reception counter."
"And you accepted it without even checking the contents, even tipped the waiter. Was you seeing me naked a delusion too on my part, because that totally happened."
"What are you even talking about?" although she knows which event he is referring to, she will not admit to it.
"That day, when you fetched me a bucket of water; you saw me naked. Don't deny that now."
"I did no such thing! It was you who moved the shower curtain, I didn't move it to look at you or anything you filthy man." She objects with all her might.
"Are you saying... that day, you saw nothing?" he is enjoying this; she can see it on his face, plain as day.
"O...Of course not you idiot!" she stammered.
"Now why don't I believe you? Because if my memory doesn't fail me... you stood there silently until I moved the curtain and only when I did move it and ask you to rub soap on my back thinking it is Romi did you scream?"
"First of all that is so, so yuck that a grown man would ask his brother to rub soap on his back and... I saw nothing. I stood there because you were saying mean things about my family."
"And you enjoyed my comments so much? Really I am flattered."
"That is so stupid; seriously what kind of family did I marry into?"
"Excuse me? "
"Ah, now that your family is being talked about you are interested as well to know things?'
"I said no such thing... Besides what does my family have to do with this at all huh?
"All you Bhallas are so... so dirty minded."
"May I remind you, you are a Bhalla too now, hmm?'
"Yeah well by marriage not birth."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me... you and that sister of yours..." she has a shudder with the last word.
"Simi? What about her?"
"Oh so you even understood which sister we are talking about here. That's good to know."
"Will you stop with the nonsense and get to the point."
"If you remember our wedding night... for obvious reasons, so do I. Your sister... she... she did things that day... vulgar things."
"You do realize what that sounded like don't you?" He asked with a quirk of his eyebrow.
"Ewww... that's so gross. I meant she said she has packed leeen--guh-ray for me and offered me tips."
"What?" he asks confused.
"Her pronunciation, not mine. She meant lingerie."
When his eyes went wide at that, she had a satisfaction of letting him have a taste of his own medicine.
"How does that make her dirty? Please explain, because my mind just went numb now."
"She said she could take me to shops, places where she can get me 30% discount too that sell lingerie if I ever want to go with her. She is a regular." She made a face at the comment.
"Whoa, whoa TMI, TMI... that's my sister we are talking about... Gross. That is so disturbing to even think about."
"You asked for it besides it wasn't a picnic for me either alright."
"At least you aren't blood related and are a woman... how much could that have freaked you out?"
"You are really asking me that question? A woman, yes, but someone I barely know casually states she can take me lingerie shopping, says she can offer me tips for my big night and almost revealed the highlights of her wedding night to me... including some facts about the huge bathtub in that hotel room we reserved and it shouldn't have bothered me? Seriously?" she states with a deadpan expression.
"This is all so disturbing to hear." He says with a shake of his head trying to rid himself of the very disturbing things he just learned.
"Exactly my sentiments."
He scowls at her for that comment,
"Whatever... don't you ever bring up my sister' lingerie talks in front of me ever again. I need to bleach my mind as it is now. Also, if you ever need to buy lingerie do not go to those discount stores. A friend of mine has an exclusive boutique; I'll take you there if you need it."
"WHAT????"
"Wow could you be a little less loud?"
She stood up finally at that as did he and looked daggers at him.
"What?" he asked nonchalantly.
"Did-you-just-say-you-would-take-me-lingerie-shopping?" She enunciated each word slowly and precisely.
"Yeah I did, thought I might help you out... with your poor sense of your own measurements... it would be a favor to you."
She could stand no more; she grabbed her purse almost hitting him with it,
"I am not having this conversation with you."
"Fine we'll discuss this later, we have more important things to do for now as it is."
"What part of not having this conversation did you not understand? I meant ever! EVER all right. I am never discussing these things with you."
"As you say..." He said with a shrug of his shoulders.
So horrified was she by his offhanded remark, she walked out of her clinic, while he stood laughing and feeling delightfully happy at the turn of events.
