question about sindoor (sp??)

Hey everyone

I have a question and I hope nobody minds me asking. I am not from India but I love watching the
shows and Indian movies very much. I think that the Indian tv and movie industry has very very talented actors and actresses. Anyways I have a question about the sindoor that karan was about to apply on albeli. I know that it signifies that you are married. Sooo if karan applies it to albeli what does it mean ? Is it basically like them getting married or is it jist disrespectful ? If anyone could answer my question I would really appreciate it.

Hi Saraa,I'm not from India either but I think that when someone applies sindoor to someone,they marry that person,religionwise,not courtwise (they are married according to their traditions,but not legally by law) and of course in the show,as you saw Abha and Karan married the first time with sindoor,and they considered each other husband and wife,so I will be think that you are married.But then again,a marrige has to be legal in law and once you have not gotten a divorce from you husband,you can't get married again.

So Karan applying sindoor to Albeli comes as if he is truly marrying her in their religion and tradition. And it is somewhat an insult to Abha.But this will not happen.

Again I can VERY wrong,because this is my P.O.V

very well explained nivana...since abha is married to karan, legally and religious wise, he cant put sindoor on someone else,unless he is divorced. and if he applies than it signifies that he is tying a knot with that person.

Normally usage of sindoor on their forehead is to show/mark that a woman is married and ceasing it out implies she is widow. And during Karan's wedding to Abha, they took pheras around the agni to be a witness to their wedding. And wearing the mangal sutra is where it really means that they are married and belong to each another as its a sacred string/chain. So Abha has all of this while Albeli has none 😉 Besides that, by tradition and by law, Abha is the one and only wife of Karan Prasad. 😊
