I agree with Maher on the veil issue. It's optional. I've heard of real life weddings (parents of my Hindu friends) where the faces were either covered or not. It's just a preference and I don't think it happens IRL anymore, in this day and age. Not in urban areas anyway. Gaguwal is a backwards village so it makes sense that they cover the brides face. Of course, the real reason for Sakshi covering her face is so that Preet can replace her.

It is something cvs use as per their convince. Meher is right. Whenever bride swap is to take place they cover the bride's face and put the blame on some pandit.

@delia you are correct. Abusive behavior is almost considered a norm. And girls these days don't know what molestation is as a guy forcibly kissing her or maybe coming close to her is, in our movie or serial world, love. You mentioned ghulam serial. I personally feel there not much to choose between Veer and Rangeela. Rangeela married a girl and then gave her away to his malik. Like really? What is she a toy? That you can exchange with anyone... And the whole concept is ridiculous now. That Veer's mom used to say that a girl's job limited to ensuring that the collar of kurta does not get dirty and the roti should not get cold. And now she has become the Sarkar. Where women were scum, now she is the ruler? And why is Veer not killing her? It's not like he had any love or respect for his mother...

And don't even get me started on historical shows. They are just like some over imaginative child writing the script. Jodha Akbar was a proof that they had no idea as to who these people actually were. And Chandra Nandini is not even a historical show. There no evidence that Nandini ever existed.

Indian movies are equally bad. Bajirao Mastani is a classic example. Even if they claim that they have followed the booksRau, the very beginning is wrong. Bajirao and Mastani's meeting is very wrong... I have read the book. And Kashibai? She was Bramhin lady and that too of royal stature. She would never stoop as low as to dance with her husband's keep. But still the ymade her dance. And historically speaking, Kashibai couldn't walk properly due the fact that her leg would hurt, dancing is an extreme. And the casting? It was all wrong. Has anyone seen what Konkanastha Bramhins look like? They would put the freaking Europeans to shame, they are that fair. And Ranveer and Priyanka, with due respect to both of them, are dusky. Nothing against their colour. Even I am dusky, but as Bajirao and Kashibai, they were wrong. Only Dipika was perfect as Mastani.

Apologies for the rant but, Delia it's the first time I am speaking with someone who sees past the glamour and actually notices the faults...

What these makers actually need is Sautan and wife track, where one sautan is a best friend and the other one, preferably from different religion or caste, the manipulative one.
Nandini Helena
Jodha and Rukaiya

Has anyone ever noticed that these negative leads are actually in a way wronged by the MLs? And when they actually try to fight for their right, they are termed as bitches. Just because a girl fights for her rights and is ready to go to any lengths to get her rights, she is considered bad. And the one who is submissive and bears everything with a smile is perfect.

Is that what the message is? Bend your knees and submit to your husband (read master) and live happily? He can do whatever he wants. Misunderstand you, hit you, love you, throw you out or make you a queen. You just don't leave your place that is predestined to be near his feet. Fight for your rights, and you are a manipulative bitch.

We speak about negative leads not having any self respect. But do our FLs have any? Don't they constantly go back to their abusive husband's once the misunderstanding is cleared?

Preet for example. Despite being humiliated, betrayed, beaten, tied up, molested she is begging for that man's love who did all of this. As Mannu, if she had received a call saying that Amba has been kidnapped would she have gone running and crying to Raj or Jagan? No. She, sorry he would have done something on his own. As a girl she is shown as a damsel in distress. The day she came out as a girl, she became weak.

That is the essential message. Girls are weak. They can't do anything.

In the precap, The henna is so noticebly different on both sskshi and preets hands... preet had much darker color of henna. Sakshi is in the mandap for half of the wedding.

Barely any TV women have self respect at all. I've said the same about Preet many times. Even Amrit has more self respect than her! At least she refuses to have anything to do with Harjeet as long as Mo's in the picture whereas Preet is still running after Raj when he wants to marry Sakshi. The sad thing is that after MU is cleared, Preet will go back to Raj and Amrit will go back to Harjeet.

Yes, sometimes the ML is responsible for the negative lead's plight e.g. Helena. She wants a baby from Chandra and it is his duty to give her one but he just won't because he doesn't love her. Excuse me? Who cares if he doesn't love her? He married her so he has to fulfil his duties towards her! No one would hesitate to call a woman a bitch for not giving her husband a child but it doesn't work that way when you reverse the roles. Pitiful. Chandra was happy to get Durdhara pregnant and he wasn't in love with her either... It's unfair. When it was for his benefit (to get an heir) he did it but when it didn't benefit him in any way, he didn't.

Even I noticed that the actress sitting next to Neel on the mandap was Vindhya half the time. After the swap happened and Mo led the bride (Preet) to the mandap, it was still Vindhya. CVs think we're stupid. We can clearly see the height difference between Vindhya and Farnaz.
