Most wicked on television?

Aman Verma is riding high on the success of his role as an eccentric man in 'Viraasat'.

Aman Yatan Verma read the script of 'Viraasat' (Star Plus) and at first thought the role played by Amarr Upadhyay would suit him to the hilt. "I have always been associated with good characters and this was the most positive character in the show. I evinced interest in this role but Ravi felt I would better than playing the usual straight forward role," he says.

He adds that that the role of Rishabh Lamba has amazing shades, one of an eccentric and psychotic man. "One can never predict his behaviour in any given situation. I was apprehensive given my looks and roles I'd done. I have not yet got into the skin of the character and hope to keep improvising and making it as the most wicked role ever seen on television. But the response to my portrayal of this role is getting good reviews."

"Also, the comfort factor I have working with this team. I have acted in many other Ravi Chopra productions like 'Aurat' (Sony), 'Mahabharat Ek Katha', 'Dushman' (Channel 9), the film 'Baghban' and now 'Babul'. He was so convinced that I would do it justice and that gave me the confidence to take up the role," explains Aman.

Aman seems to have combined working for films and television and enjoys working in both mediums. Says he, "Filmwallahs are hesitant to approach those working in television because of our long working hours and dates being blocked for days at a stretch. Often when we are in a strong and commanding position on TV, our egos don't allow us to ask for work in films."

After being a spycam victim, he says it's only his upbringing in a disciplined fauji background that has made him a great survivor. "More than a great actor, I feel it's important to be just to survive. I am always polite and courteous to people and it is these traits that have helped me cope with adverse situations," says the ever optimistic Aman.
