It got shelved to the morning slot, alright ..but it is still around !!! Madhavi started as a prime time show but got shelved to early evening !!! Unless the channels come to terms with the fact that they have a moral responsibility...

RP very true.. I do have a few doubts on how TRP ratings are calculated...

1. These 100 houses that are tapped (idhenna mastercard family fortuneaa..humne so lOgOn se poochchaa, solla) , are they the same houses that are taken for ratings through out the life of the serial?

2. What is the selection criteria of the viewers? Why dont they do our kind of houses..is it because they know that their channel would have a superduper drop?

3. Our ooru does not have a digital broadcast, then how is the TRP monitored? - Let me give you an example... when they do a pinging here in Singapore, we get digital numbers on the screen, we know we are being pinged... for TRP or whatever reason they may have...

4. Which company is doing this TRP, and how transparent is it? knowing how things work in India, this is a very vital question. Imagine Kolangal running as a top serial for the period it ran, when i personally knew of umpteen families who had quit watching it....

Eclat, ask me again !!! Seriously, this TRP calculation is a force to reckon - some "andaa ka kasam Abu ka hukkum" stuff !!! Vikatan publication - which claims to be neutral and fair - never wrote one word of criticism about Kolangal - well, it was their own production !!
I used to give credence to what Junior Vikatan wrote in their investigative articles - but after their Alangolangal fiasco , JV lost its credibility - What I really can't fathom is Kasthuri's dragging !!! Guess we should target the sponsors - make them understand that their good money is thrown in to Koovum river !!! As for me, I would think 10 times before I buy their products - if they sponsor such " mokkai " stuff, their products must be "mokkai" too!!

Well said well said Roja you voiced my views too. I remember the times I used to vent my anger at the sponsors while watching these stupid serials. Appadiyavadhu edukku paarkire endru vaangiyum kattindirukkiren.

Srima & Roja.. I did put it into practice, never read any of vikatan publications for 7+ years.. and although the fiasco called olangal had ended, I havent brought myself to buy / borrow any of vikatan publications. Actually my friends at the library tease me, saying since I was not borrowing any of the v...publications, they have stopped buying it at the library ( the library to the east of my house doesnt have any, only the one on the west have now..!!)

I still read Vikatan books - just to see how far they go 😉
Their articles mean nothing to me - take them all with a
pinch of salt !!! Well , Fourth Estate is also a culprit -
they go to any extent for "sensational " news !!!

I don't think that TRP rating alone draws the sponsors. The popular producers also play some role in it. Otherwise how could a very awful serial , irresepective of the time slot, get a no. of sponsors?

Beats me KK - some magazine had a debate on
"Censor for TV" - most opined that there should be some
kind of censoring - not just for the serials - for all the shows and even the Ads - some Ads are real freaky -
there is no connection between the product and the visual
presentation - you need some super duper brain to connect both !!!
