"She is a jaadugarni, a nymph, a sorceress!! Uma said to himself as she gazed at Kanak through the windows across the courtyard. Meena chachi was so right. No one could stay mad at Kanak for too long. It was getting darn near impossible to maintain his stone face around Kanak. She was a bundle of delight, a ray of sunshine and he was losing this battle very rapidly.

There she was at this very moment, perched atop a higher branch of the mango tree, trying to pluck the lone late blooming green mango for Shiv who was gesturing wildly from the bottom. "Haan haan Bhabhisa, A little to your left! She leaned way too far, almost losing her balance making Uma's heart stop for a second. Then she did it, plucked the mango, climbed down the tree like a monkey and half way through jumped right down! Uma got up in alarm! She lay crouched for a moment making both Shiv and Uma fret, till she leapt up dramatically, brandishing the mango with outstretched arm much to Shiv's delight!

"Bhabhisa, let's go the kitchen, cut and eat this green mango with mirchi powder and salt!

Kanak replied "Aye Aye Captain! saluting Shiv with the mango hand. Then she and Shiv marched like two soldiers towards the kitchen making Uma grin. "Bhabhisa, let's not give any to Suman jiji, she will eait it all. I won't get any He heard Shiv say. Kanak said smilingly Yeah, Suman can do that. But think dear, if we eat without sharing, we are bound to get stomach ache! Let us give her some too ok? " Shiv was not happy but relented after Kanak offered to buy him kulfi later by saying that every good deed reaped its own rewards!

Uma listened to this exchange with a smile in his heart. How sweetly she handles his little siblings, teaching them the right way with a fun touch! He thought. He hovered in the hallway near the kitchen listening to Suman and Shiv's giggles at whatever story Kanak was telling them as she cut the mango. They were about to eat and maasa's bell rang. Kanak came running out, holding a piece of mango dipped in mirchi and salt in hand, bumped in to Uma. As he steadied her, she looked at him, then took a bite off the piece of mango, popped the other half into his mouth and ran away! He stared bemused.

Uma closed the door with the other hand, his eyes not leaving Kanaks for a moment! He tipped her face up and whispered close to her lips. " Is your so called icecream really that good? " Kanaks eyes grew large and she blinked yes rapidly. Uma smiled , bent down and tasted her lips in a brief, yet scorching kiss!! Waaki bahut swadisht hai he said in a teasing tone!

Kanak stood shell shocked for a moment. Her cheeks were turning as red as strawberries, making her even more beautiful. She closed her eyes tightly for a moment. Uma waited with bated breath for her reaction! She walked as if in a trance her face still uptilted, eyes closed to the center of the room! She then opened her eyes and they were shining as bright as the sun, she broke out in a smile as dazzling as diamonds! She hugged herself and took a couple of whirls with her skirt ballooning around her. "Wow! My first kiss! My first Kiss!! I swear Uma! It was sooo...ummm.. Thank you. Thank you she stopped and bit her lips guiltily when she realized that she had said those words aloud!!

Uma could not help himself. He guffawed with laughter! Only his Kanak would have a reaction like that!! He felt his heart leave his body at that moment and make a permanent residence inside Kanak's! Yes he was hers, from this moment on to eternity... He knew without a doubt that he could never leave her and be able to survive!! It was the most humbling and the most wonderful moment of his life when he realized and surrendered completely to this wonderful thing called love!

Kanak was confused at Umas laughter and looked questioningly at him. He swooped her up and together they fell into bed, Uma on top of her. He captured her lips in a long, wild, plundering and passionate kiss, their hands wandering freely, exploring each other in unconscious delight! When they both came to their senses, he smiled his beautiful smile and said, still hugging her tightly. " Now that Madam! Is what you would call a real kiss! He looked for her reaction. She had her eyes closed and did not seem to be breathing at all! " Kanak! He shook her, getting concerned. His impish wife opened her eyes, linked her arms around his neck and said " Patidev, where am I? Have I died and gone to heaven? He rolled with laughter with Kanak in his arms on the bed a couple of times and then they settled down, snuggled in each other's arms like two little doves in love!
