The mandir scene looked a bit random in the middle of nowhere. Serial land mein kuch bhi ho sakta hai. Kanak is firm on not changing her name. Uma doesn't protest it. May be someday it will come back. The steps scene was beautiful according me. Kanak making her point using Uma's language. But is Uma convinced? Not very sure. I feel Uma is a kind of person who needs to be probed a lot to know what is really in his mind. He forms opinions about people but never suggests them openly unless he is caught off guard in Shiv's case when he told Kanak that he didn't expect a girl like her to know about the value of relationships. I thought it was very judgemental of him and also sort of wrong to think that when he barely knew her.
And also in parallel we get a glimpse of the khichdi that been brewing in masima's head. Strange that it is her turn to plot now when she could smell everyone else's khichdi. She is very clear that till her wounds heal she will seek revenge and she knows that Palomi will be more than willing to be her partner. She knows that she can use Palomi till she wants and Palomi will happily do whatever it takes. She wants Kanak to have no identity, she wants Kanak to be a slave to Uma's thoughts and in turn her world. Is she really worried for Uma or for herself? If Kanak resists, she is even willing to separate her from Uma. She even gives false(?) hopes to Palomi.
The curry leaves and hing were used to drive home a point. It was indeed not very subtle but enough for viewers to understand what is happening story wise. But I felt it was important social commentary. Sadly, a woman's tastes, preferences and her choices are not given enough respect even today. It is always, "Why don't you eat this/ cook this? Your husband loves it! rather than. "What do you like to eat?
So, for a girl to be in sasuraal she needs to surrender herself to the tastes of the family, if she tries to mix in her tastes she will be thrown out or not accepted! Even though this is a serial and I know it is far away from real life, I love how reality of some women and their thinking was depicted and they are so absorbed in their worlds that even if they watch this episode it would probably go over their heads. I am amazed at how the writers weave in little things like these in the story line which mirrors our society and they talk about issues that reside deep inside my heart.
Vansh has a mission now, Saraswatichandra, oops!
Mission Saras!
Operation Saras!
Tu saras , mein Vansh !
Tu kaun hai Saras?
Vansh ki waxed hands ki kasam, I am confused.
Issi confusion ke saath,
Shatru ji ne kaha hai,
Jali ko aag kehte hai,
Bhuji ko raak kehte hai!
Jai Bholenath!
