First of all let me make it clear,
Uma is no Sooraj, and Kanak is no Sandhya. Similarly,
Sooraj was not Uma, and Sandhya was not Kanak.
Because it is the second season doesn't mean we have to compare it with the first season everytime something happens.
Sooraj was supportive, but Uma is not. Uma is overly smart and is complex, an out of the box character. But I am pretty sure when they fall in love completely he will be supportive. It takes time for such Dharm gyanI to think out of dharm. And just think why would a man support his wife of 2 months over his Masisa who nurtured him after his mother got disabled. This is what happens in real. Sooraj was a man of dreams, and Uma is a man of reality. He does support her in cases of Palumi or Payal and helped her hide her faults in the beginning.
Sandhya would have never tried to make truth out by using alcohol. As an IPS Officer she needed to get the truth out even more than Kanak. Do he ever use them? Never. Sandhya was a simple girl, overly serious, and career-oriented yet family-loving. Kanak is a fun-loving, restless girl who craves for Bhabho's love only in life.
Let me come to the point. Uma-Kanak are not Mahan types like Sooraj-Sandhya. They are real people just poles apart. Though I am confused if a man like Uma exists😊. Joke apart. The concept is good. The first season was a dream while the second season tells the true story of how two poles apart people fall in love and fulfill each other. Uma and Kanak both have good and bad sides. If one helps the other get away from their respective bad sides, there will be only good remaining. And let the story start guys. The real story of Diya aur bati will start after they are in love. Let it take time and I am sure it would be even better.
