TSMSPJ*ep.59*9.6.17: My Impression* A balancing act!

To balance is to distribute weight equally to maintain poise and equilibrium. Within today's episode ,Kanak's journey from the house to the outside world is a balancing act between her two roles of Sita and Gita. The feigned and the real. Mind you knowledge is trickling into her soul, especially in her assumed role. Her duped humility and obedience before Maasi ,prompts an apology from her for her unconventional side. How Kanak literally sings for her supper through the rumbling of her empty belly. Instead she gets told the plus side of fasting! Good for digestion, bridles the vain desires of the body. Even Payal adds fasting washes away one's sins. For Kanak, an empty stomach aches to be fed, not stuffed with faith references about fasting .Mind you, her sharp mind picks up feelers and she decides to juggle her act.. by grasping the very pulse of this household! She would strum the note of devotion, to worship her stomach, by seeking a way out of the house hunting for food like the primitive man! Funny how savage a famished human can become!! Interesting reference about the act of fasting since its currently the month of Ramzan too, when Muslims fast to pray, discipline their body, and think of the needy and people in less fortunate situations.

Kanak's balancing act, that gets her out this difficult situation is a visit to the temple. A sure shot that throws Maasi out of balance for the moment.. yet being the elder she can only encourage the chaste Sita to follow rules and regulations that faith encourages believers to adhere too. Mind you, today I found Maasi in the role of a assertive love guru. To me she tries to strike a balance between the sober Uma Shankar and the seen demure Sita type wife of his. Kanak the conspicuous girl who used to make her anxious, seems to have gone somewhere? I sense Maasi gives great credit to herself and Uma, for bringing about an amazing transformation in Kanak..

For its Maasi who attempts to tip the balance of bringing Uma and his shy wife together. She suggests Uma take his wife to the temple. The complete act of prompted togetherness is brought about by Maasi. Mind you, Kanak's tall ideas of getting a bite to eat are not shaken. The girl is brazenly determined to get what she wants. She gets to the car like a bullet! Away we go! food here I come! Only Uma throws her off balance when he goes eco friendly! Not by car ! but by bike is the mode of transport!

I do wonder if Uma used his initiative to use a bike to get close and personal with Kanak? He is getting bolder as we speak. Kanak every moment in her double role is winding him up. Again its Maasi who literally tells Kanak to sit in front with Uma as precious things are kept within the eye range ,right under the nose, rather than at the back! Maasi too derives some kind of vicarious pleasure in huddling this unlikely pair together!

Kanak strikes a balance.. comes to a compromise if she needs to put food in her belly she will have to ride the bike for the very first time in her life! and that too him in charge of her, lest she loses her balance! Nose up in the air! she has to balance it out with him. She cannot let him think, he's won by giving her a bike ride! Slyly from the corner of her eye she snidely comments one of his kurta buttons missing! He smiles rather wickedly and boldly retorts.. it's stuck in her nuptial chain! Kanak is thrown off balance! what cheek! she literally pulls it out of her pendant , with a curved arm hands it back to him! In a bit of a huff! She felt if he's making a pass at her.. then he's best be "on his bike [UK, slang for go away!]

This juggling act gets too much for Kanak!!aromas of mouth watering onion bhajis waft into her nostrils! While, the sombre Uma Shankar pedals away weaving in and out of the busy streets of Ladnun, giving his pretty young wife a steady rather romantic bike ride. Kanak has to tip the balance of his of false sense of security. Talk mean stuff.. gibe at his shaky financial condition despite of appearing well to do! What a pity he cannot afford to bring his car out! ends up pedalling a puny bike!

Uma balances her knowledge right with a plausible answer. Riding bikes are eco friendly, have a bearing on ending pollution caused by fuel omission. Besides it's great exercise for the body. Riding a bike great form of transport for short distances! I reckon its these simple day to day practices in the form of short lessons that are likely to make Kanak see him in a better light!

But not so soon will a balance strike betwixt the two. As Kanak's stomach churns and groans she twists her side saddled leg! Aims it at his pedalling leg and Viola! The balance of the bike along its riders, is tipped !as the wobbly bike crashes on the side and the veiled maiden falls on the bed of straw with the saintly scholar on top of her! her sheer ornate veil shields this intimate moment between them.. he looks into her eyes innocently.. it was not his doing they seem to swear. But she would rather not meet his gaze..somehow she always manages to give this Ravan the chance to overpower her.. she moans silently. Kanak dampens his spirits , doubles up awkwardly from under him, moves him aside and regains her posture!

Food glorious food! Kanak sends Uma to the temple and stuffs herself with umpteen plates of onion bhaji! Wow what a juggling act! Doing so many different things at the same time! It's funny when Kanak says, her belly is full! but her voracious appetite ! the desire to indulge is still on the loose!

Have to say Kanak's act of a fasting Sita wins support for her from the younger women's brigade .. in empathy for her Payal takes a stand for Kanak! she will cook earlier today, as Kanak was not aware of the meal times servings of the day. Even Suman ,for once is reluctant to disagree with Saras, Payal and Shiv! does that mean that Kanak's duplicity is working? for the better?

Well in the Rathi household Ved takes a stand for his sister Kanak. He balances it out clearly to Bhabo that Kanak is as much Suraj and Sandhya s daughter as him and Vansh are! Kanak values relationships in equal amount as they all do.. she is unselfish and is of as much value as Vansh and himself. No one dares to tip the balance when Ved states emotionally to Bhabo he will not go against his sister Kanak!

If only Kanak's family knew how day in and day out she tries to strike a balance between living away from them and living in her new family.. all for Bhabo's shop.. precap... gosh Maasi smells onion breath!! Hamlet53 10.6.17

Hammie hammie hammie hammie hammie, what a well balanced impression from u.👏 brilliant title and play...balance, cycle...in world everything is in balance.it is the duty of the men and wife both to maintain this.two wheels, same is the family. But it also indicates that one cant maintain the balance if one of the wheels are smaller than the other.the same way if husband thinks wife is inferior then it wont lead to a balanced life.
Uma is clearly enjoy kanak breaking all the rules.b it sita aur gita, he too loves flirting with the double dhamaka. Logo ko ek milte, he got two to deal with.i dont think he chose the bicycle ride to get fresh air or prevent air pollution.ye to accha mauka hain to get closer ..

Keep writing hammie.enjoyed ur musing a lot.specially kanak n masisa in ur pen.

Like the title😊. US is trying to maintain balance to move smoothly along with his partner. I have a feeling that he is also slightly changing or maybe being liberal. He didnt tell kanak again to walk behind him rather masi remind her. He even didnt scold her for eating onion instead he tried to save her.
Hamlet i wanted to ask you something long before😊. Are you a professional writer? I mean do you also write articles in Magazins?
Love the way you do analysis and interpreate stuffs, and your writing too.

I doubt if Kanak's Sita-Gita rule is working on anyone in Uma's house...I loved how in the previous episode she went to each member of the house from Shiv to Payal and rather than getting something to eat...they all narrated to her the benefits of fasting. 😆
She is so inexperienced compared to Uma...that none of her tricks work. From mixing the sleep medicine in the milk...to the chutney residue she left on her fingers and lips...he such a keen observer of everything around him that nothing escapes his notice.

When she first fainted in order to avoid touching his feet...I thought...okay...Kanak - 1, Uma - 0, but she keeps tripping over herself I've lost count of the score now and just focus on how cute it all is.

Maasi's character...is one I'm actually liking. She is a stern woman...but fair...she rules the house, but to the extent that stays within the limits set by Uma. Like Sandhya won Bhabo's heart...Kanak will eventually win Maasi-Sa's too. The only problem is that Kanak's tactics are very weak and immature compared to her mother's. And she has yet to realize that like her father, Uma is the pillar of support that will be there for her no matter what.

I feel even in her inexperience she has the backing of trying to uphold what is right.. she confesses she did eat
When she first fainted in order to avoid touching his feet...I thought...okay...Kanak - 1, Uma - 0, but she keeps tripping over herself I've lost count of the score now and just focus on how cute it all is.
😆 these slips, trips, bumps and catches are a subtle way of brushing against each other!which is clearly enjoyed by the audience..

very well put fatima .. although kanak is a different kettle of fish than her mother.. i actually cannot recall if Sandhya ever was educated away from home.. as kanak was? kanak for dramatic effect too has to appear clumsy and inexperienced ,so as to bring out the largeness of uma... but its their differences that are maintaining our interests... 😃... thanks for your enaging comment Fatima.. love hammie
