But Bollywood has a soft corner for star pet names!

From the times of Chintoo (aka Rishi Kapoor) and Jeetu (aka Jeetendra), pet names have added an extra dose of adulation and brought to the fore some fun stuff for the fans.

Meet Gullu & Bonny !

Blame it on their long names and call it the human nature to seek out a comfort zone. We have always loved addressing Aishwarya and Bipasha as Ash and Bips.

But for those who don't know, your fav Ash is called Gullu at home while Bips is Bonny!

But whether it was Bipasha's 'boney' structure as a kid or Ash's chubbiness that had earned them these nicknames...would remain a mystery unsolved.

We don't know how they looked as kids but post-marriage, Ash is going quite 'Gullu'. And Bips is on her way to become a 'Bonny' avataar.

Adorable darlings: Lolo & Bebo

These star siblings hail from a clan famous for nicknames! So here come Karisma and Kareena, fondly called Lolo and Bebo respectively.

It was for her sweetness that mommy Babita gave Karisma the name since 'Lolo' means sweet in Sindhi. Also, she liked the Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida and, therefore, the pet name.

Kareena was Bebo as she was the baby of the family...youngest and most pampered...but hopefully not an over-pampered brat? What do you say?

Sallu-Sanju Bhai Bhai !

Meet the two Bhais of Bollywood! When amidst family, Salman is Bhai and when with friends, he's Sallu while Sanjay Dutt is Sanju Baba !

Initially, Salman was Bhai just for the family and boyhood pals, but today the entire industry calls him by that pet name. That Salman doesn't care to be addressed as Sallu is a different issue altogether!

For Sanjay, it was mommy Nargis who affectionately called him Sanju and for the industry, he was Baba. But soon the two names stuck together and he became our Sanju Baba!

Raju - Duggu are here!

No major renaming tales to tell, though. It's just that our Khiladi aka Akshay Kumar's real name is Rajeev Bhatia and hence, the pet name Raju.

Hrithik is called Duggu at home for the simple reason that it rhymed well with papa Rakesh's pet name Guddoo...Must say, what an idea!

Meet Sasha and Chi-Chi!

For some stars, pet names are coined by their loving parents. And for others, their lady love would take an active role. Shahid Kapoor is one such lucky guy!

Although no longer together, it was his one-time girlfriend Kareena who gave Shahid his pet name - Sasha!

Govind Arjun Ahuja is our very own Govinda and his pet name Chi-Chi sounds quite weird unless you know the saga behind it.

It was his mommy who gave him the name as he was the youngest of the family and the little finger is called 'Chi-Chi' in Punjabi.
