'Dilli6': Director's childhood memories of life
The 'muhurut' shot for the film, canned opposite the Chawri Bazar Metro station, saw no less a person than Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra break the coconut.
Despite the presence of Mayor Arti Mehra during the Muhurat shot, all eyes (and media cameras) were on the female lead Sonam Kapoor and the director Rakeysh Mehra.
Speaking on the occasion, the female lead of the film Sonam Kapoor, daughter of veteran actor Anil Kapoor who had a impressive debut last year in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya', said she played a typical Punjabi girl in the film.
''I am a typical 'Punjabi kudi' and am thus enjoying the experience of working in the film,''is all she had to say.
Anticipating the presence of the main lead Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam, a huge crowd of onlookers crowded the scene, making things difficult for the film's crew.
Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra said she was happy that a film was being shot in Chandni chowk.
''I feel films on socially relevant issues should be made,''she said.
Though 'Dilli6' charts Mehra's experiences as a youngster who spent his early days in Chandni Chowk, a major part of the shooting for the film had to be done in Jaipur as the filmmaker felt that the shooting of the film with the entire cast, including Bollywood heartthrob Abhishek Bachchan and newcomer Sonam Kapoor, could not be held in Chandni Chowk given the fact that the area is bustling with activities for a major part of the day.
Mehra chose Jaipur over Delhi and even recreated Chandni Chowk in Jaipur. However, he has decided to shoot the last leg of the film here.
The film's lead pair Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor will participate in the shooting schedule of the film in Delhi.
