hey everybody,

i have got very interesting info on janakpur/ present day mithila-the birthplace of sitaji..theres a place called janaki mandir..heres some info-

In 1657, a golden statue of the Goddess Sita was found at the very spot, and Sita is also said to have lived there. The legend had it that it was built on the holy site where Sannyasi Shurkishordas had found the images of Goddess Sita. In fact, Shurkishordas was the founder of modern Janakpur and the great saint and poet who preached about the Sita Upasana (also called Sita Upanishad) philosophy. Legend has it that King Janak performed the worship of 'Shiva-Dhanus' on this very site. This temple has preserved the broken idol of King Janak and other beautiful idols.

heres the pic-

isn't it beautiful😊

there is also a place called 'bibah mandap' or 'mani mandap' ( vivah mandap)..it is said to have a beautiful garden also..it is the place where rama and sita were married with the blessings of all elders, rishis and munis.it seems there is also a festival called ram-sita vivah panchami celebrated in november or december marking the anniversary of the heavenly wedding tht took place centuries ago . pic is below(at sunset)..dying to see it in day-light

P.S- the ram-sita vivaah mandir is a part of the janaki temple😊

Dhanushdham-a historical and religious site, its reference dating back to the great Hindu epic Ramayana. It is believed to be the place where pieces of Shiva's bow that Ram broke to obtain Sita's hand for marriage still remain. A fossilized fragment of the broken piece can be worshipped here.

thanks 4 all the information and pic vaishnavi šŸ˜› šŸ˜›
it refreshed my memory of childhood when i visited this place along with my parents. janakpur is on indo-nepal border some 50 kilometers from sitamadhi ,bihar. this is birthplace of mata sita. if u go there u'll find thousands of devotee's visiting the temple from all over world.
danushdham u described is not located in main city but a few kilometers away in a remote area. i also remember a small lake called dudhganga near the temple. it is said that everyday the lake was filled with caw's milk and sita with her sisters used to take bath in it.
