Finally, gorgeous Kajol has given in to persistent persuasion of ace filmmaker Karan Johar and will be playing the love interest of King Khan in this ambitious upcoming project 'My Name Is Khan.'
Karan Johar had approached the actress for the project a long time ago, but she was not very keen to take up and had kept the Karan on tenterhooks for a long time. But after going through the script minutely, the gutsy actress has now given her consent for the project.
The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that though Kajol has a very good rapport with Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, but she was not prepared to sacrifice her responsibilities as mother to her daughter Nyasa. And that was one of the factors why she took such a long time to say yes to the project.
As Karan Johar's project 'My Name Is Khan' is expected to be shot entirely in the United States, Kajol was not prepared to leave her daughter for such a long period. Now, when she has agreed to do the film, Karan Johar will have to accommodate her concerns regarding daughter Nyasa. Either, Nyasa will accompany the actress to the US or Kajol will be shooting in small spells instead of doing it in a long spell away from her daughter.
Shah Rukh Khan plays the character of an autistic person in 'My Name Is Khan' who is held captive by some miscreants for a few weeks. The experience under the captivity changes the outlook of Shah Rukh about life and the whole world. The story is based on a real incidence and Shah Rukh is very excited about playing this challenging role.
However, the film is not the usual Karan Johar type. It will have none of the larger than life grandeur and lavish sets which has become the hallmark of all Karan Johar or Dharma Productions' films. It's a totally different film with a hard and realistic look on life in strict opposition to Karan Johar's usual fares of mushy romantic flicks.
Nonetheless, by roping in Kajol to feature in 'My Name Is Khan', Karan Johar has already made his job easier at the box office, as Shah Rukh Khan- Kajol jodi is still considered the hottest on-screen pair of bollywood. Whenever they have come together in a bollywood flick, the movie has proved to be a roaring success at the box office.
Who can forget Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Aditya Chopra's 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge', a mushy romantic film from the house of Chopras. The crackling chemistry between the lead pair was so liked by the audiences that the film is still running in one of the theatres in the city. Then, there were others like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Khabhi Gham etc by Karan Johar himself, which wrote the box office history with their success at the box office.
Hmm……hmm…..seems another SRK-Kajol blockbuster is in the making, amen!!
