Shahid Kapur's bike was the centre of attraction among the boy brigade at Yash Raj Studios

On Friday, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, who were at Yash Raj Studios, had a major distraction. No, it was not any hot and sizzling babe that caught their attention but Shahid Kapur's trendy Yamaha MT 01 bike.

An eye witness informed, "On completing his work, Shahid was all set to leave on his bike when Abhishek Bachchan, Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, who were in the vicinity, gathered to check out Shahids's bike. Abhishek especially was so impressed with it that he immediately called up good friend John Abraham, who was doing a promotional shoot for New York in the same building, to come and see the bike."

Ranbir Kapoor on Shahid's bike
A bike enthusiast, John wasted no time in joining the gang. As soon as he appeared on the scene, like his co-actors, he too began marveling at the bike. The eye-witness added, "Apart from the guy talk that revolved around the bike, everybody took turns to feel and sit on the bike. John made it a point to take a ride before appreciating Shahid's bike, which costs around Rs 15 lakh. This guy talk between actors regarding the bike was quite a sight for the onlookers."

Meanwhile, Kabir Khan, New York's director, who was surprised at John's sudden disappearance from the shoot, came down to the scene of action, while searching for John. And within no time he too joined the gang and the banter continued…

Imran can fight, saala!
What mamu Aamir Khan can do, bhanja Imran Khan can aspire to copy. For starters, the boy's taking his role as an actor just as seriously as Aamir Imran Khan does.

So when producer Dhilin Mehta signed Imran for director Soham Shah's action-adventure Luck opposite childhood friend Shruti Hassan, Imran decided to get into the skin of the character. For that, this is what he did: three months of strict dieting, body building, cable training, sky and deep-sea water diving, and more than that, preparing himself mentally to do dangerous stunts for the film.

We were canning the climax with a fight scene on a burning train. I would have used a duplicate but, to my surprise, Imran was standing above the flaming train ready to give the shot, said Soham. The producer had to be convinced by Imran to let him do the stunts himself. He had to jump off a moving plane onto the train where massive explosions were taking place and do the fight scene. Imran did it in just three takes, informed Soham. He told me, I will do it myself a duplicate won't look convincing. He is a determined boy.

The film co-stars Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborthy, Danny Denzongpa and Ravi Kisshen. We are wondering why Sanju Baba allowed Imran to go ahead and do the shot without a double. When they made Kidnap together, Dutt not only forbade the young actor for attempting stunts himself, but also called Aamir and gave the mamu a piece of his mind.

Imran wins his first Filmfare Award
Congratulations to Imran Khan on winning the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award of 2008 for Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He shared the award with fellow nominee Farhan Akhtar. On winning, Imran said "Thanks to Aamir uncle for always knowing what is good." The film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na also fetched choreographer Longines an award for Best Choreography for the song Pappu Can't Dance Saala.
Imran was also one of the hosts for the award ceremony held on the evening of February 28, 2009. Here is a compilation of media coverage for the event.

Imran Khan said this is his first time at hosting a show and he is damn nervous. "My hands are shaking with nervousness. But Ranbir and me are going to be good and no naughtiness like Shahrukh and Saif. We will not insult anyone. (laughs)"

Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek and Aishwarya arrived together in a white Mercedes. Their entry caused a stir. Hosts Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan were set to zoom in on their bikes from two opposite gates, when suddenly the Bachchans walked in and Imran and Ranbir were forced to stop. They waited for 20 minutes before they could restart their bikes and continue their act. They made a super cool entry. They both drove in on a funky bike with names Cool and Dude.

Just before their entry, Karan Johar said, "SRK has given a cold shoulder to the function and Saif thought it's unsafe to be here. So apart from me there are two cool dudes who will be hosting the show."

The audience cheered when the hot dudes appeared in a cool manner. Abhishek Bachchan couldn't stop himself from standing up and cheering for them too.

Once on stage, Ranbir and Imran say, "Last year many people had complains that no spoofs were pulled off on them. Are we not important they asked? So this year we will not disappoint anyone. Hum kisika mazaak nahi udayenge ." The two also took the oath of the Filmfare statuette, " Hum jo kuch kahenge accha kahenge, acche ke siwa kuch nahi kahenge.

Taking potshots at each other, cracking jokes about the audience and ensuring themselves roles in Dostana 2, Ranbir and Imran kept the audience rolling in the aise with their razor sharp wit and crackerjack comments.

Sample this: "Bura mat manna, lekin log tera last name sun kar Aamir Khan ke baare mein sochte hain. I am the future,'' said Ranbir. "Aur tera last name sunkar Sonam kapoor ke baare mein sochte hain. I am the future,'' quipped Imran. The two also did imitations of SRK in Rab Ne (Ranbir) and Aamir in Ghajini (Imran).

Imran adopting mamu-jaan Aamir's Ghajini look took the cake. How is Aamir going to react to this? "Well, I had warned him about it earlier," said Imran and added, "He has a sense of humour, you know."

Hosts for the evening Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan were in character from the word go! On the red carpet, they were overheard discussing that Karan Johar had started the show. "I just hope we don't end up finishing it," they mock shuddered! As the newest Khan on the block said, "There will be Rekhaji, Rakeshji out there...," the latest entrant from the Kapoor khandaan added, "Yaar, I'm just scared of Rishiji and Neetuji..." Keep it going, guys!

Industry Reactions

Javed Akhtar
"Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor were simply brilliant. Their bantering was extremely humorous and not offensive at all to anyone."

Abhishek Kapoor
And I must say Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan were priceless as anchors."

Shreya Ghoshal!
A happy Shreya Ghoshal, who won Best Playback Singer couldn't stop raving about anchors Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan. She said, "Imran and Ranbir are so hot, so witty, but they both have girlfriends, so no luck for me!"

Amitabh Bachchan
It is a delightful evening. Something in the air this time smells and feels different. Ranbir and Imran are the hosts and are hilarious ! Such a joy to see them without any shackles, free in spirit, respectful of the occasion and easily the life of the show…

Kareena, Saif and others join us waiting to be introduced on stage and we sit and admire the twosome RK and IK as they move from one award introduction to another keeping the show racing along !!

No Man's land
By Namrata Bhawnani

Imran Khan is boldly going where no man has gone before - he is the first man in the world to be a part of the controversial play Vagina Monologues. While most grown men quake in their boots at the mere mention of the V-word, Imran is ready to grapple with the intricacies and politics associated with the complex female organ for a good cause. The play lays bare the truths with a tour of the last frontier.

Imran admits he is nervous about the performance and adds, "My friend Sonali Sachdev, who has been part of the cast, asked me if I could do a reading. I have no experience in theatre and wanted to perform for a live audience. Also, it's a charity show for a battered women's home. Haseena, the victim of the acid attack, will be there as well. So we are trying to raise funds and create awareness for these women."

Interestingly, he will read out a piece titled My Short Skirt, read by Marisa Tomei and Mallika Sherawat earlier. For a script by a woman and played by women, how does Imran plan to pull it off given that he is the first male actor in the world to be given such an opening? He says, "Well, I will read it in third person and a girl will enact it on stage for me. (Director) Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal called up Eve Ensler, the writer of the play, and asked her how she felt about adapting the script to include a male actor. If I don't make a fool of myself, I hope even men will be drawn into the theatre."

The play has ironically run into trouble earlier in the US and in India for its frankspeak about the forbidden zone.

Aamir's promotional song for DELHI BELLY?
It appears that our prediction about DELHI BELLY breaking the Delhi jinx is likely to prove correct as producer Aamir Khan is already making preparations for its promotion. Aamir has immersed himself totally (like he always does) in the promotion of the Abhinay Deo directed, Imran Khan starrer, DELHI BELLY.

If sources are to be believed, Aamir Khan is doing a promotional song for DELHI BELLY and the Perfectionist Khan is holding dress rehearsals at his Bandra home for the same. The song is supposed to appear in the opening credits of the film. Apparently Aamir is to wear a wig for the same.

Lead actor and nephew Imran Khan refused to divulge any details saying that it was not right to talk about the film before the start of its publicity campaign. However, there is good news for all those who are keen for a glimpse of the awaited movie. The JAANE TU...YA JAANE NA sensation assured that the first cut of DELHI BELLY will be out soon.

So, keep watching this space for more!
