We have never said love does not exist.Good ppl😆 We just tell love does not happen between two individuals who have never met each other and who have no complete knowledge about each other's background.thts true. i m not siding w/ tht kind of love. it exists only in books, n films. If love happens in such a case too then it meets a tragic end which is made immortal by the so called romantic couples like Romeo Juliet etc,. n those tragic ends r also in books, n films only. didn't c such things in today's era. was possible in medival ages, though😆.
And coming to the celebration part.Rakshabandhan is a festival of cultural importance inherited by our heritage. It mainly witnesses the development of kinship among people.totally agree😃 i m not against Raksha-Bandham. but V'day is of similar nature, if u can understand. a day dedicated to observe d fest of true love. (similar to ur words underlined below) Of course that never means you are going to celebrate the brother and sisterhoodness on that particular day.You finish of all the important tasks by weekdays why?So that you can have some time dedicated for recreations on weekends.Similarly we dedicate a day to observe this fest and spend time with our dear ones.Spreading the concept of universal brotherhood is an important aspect and hence there is meaning in observing this day.But of what importance is Valentine's day?? its d culture of westerners. every kind of ppl have their culture, right? And even considering its history you don't find any romantic base to it as valentines were martyrs and not lovers. historic fact: roman soldiers wr not allowed to fall in love n marry. they wr expected to serve in army only. so St. Valentine rebells. says, everyone has a right to fall in love n marry. he is executed for rebelling. d day is observed as an honour to him, n reminding everyone tht everyone has d right to fall in love n marry. its ur life!😛. (Arshit, u have to appreciate me again, ok😆)And many of the so-called love marriages have ended in divorces. whr? only in some western countries?😆 i have seen thousands in India who love for their life n have a very happy, life-time marriage. The youth is blinded by the celluloid sagas of love and romance. i m not siding w/ puppy-lovers😆. tht happens, but i don't take it seriously as love. i m talking abt d true n mature love tht comes w/ age n understanding. (wht can i do if puppy-lovers celebrate V'day?😕😆)
And as you said the greeting card companies and florists make a good profit.Afterall today is the age of competitivity and money-making.Of what care is it to them if you are doing right or wrong? but it makes difference to d labourers who make cards, gift items n work in factories. like similarly, thousands make money by making/selling kites during Uttrayan; diyas during Diwali; n rakhis during raksha-bandhan. n u know who. not corporate company CEOs sit n do tht-earning wages tht can support them for months.---------------------------------
I just realised the GOTW is being converted into a DOTW thread.😆 yup, it is😆 I hope you don't find it offensive Mansi di😳 😊.
