The episode begins with Ram waking up in the middle of the night. He is awake because Lakshmi has entered the world. The background singer narrates the story of how King Janaka ploughed his land. All the ministers and the Rishi's are watching him. Suddenly the wind blows and from the sky appears a light. The light opens the earth and a child on a leaf appears. Everyone on the field is shocked. The king holds the child in his arms. He asks his gurudev what kind of miracle just happened. Gurudev answers that it is not a miracle but a gift. The Prasad of the yagna he did. He got the child because Bhudevi is very fond of the king. He should accept the child as his own child from heaven. Another Rishi says that God is very happy with the king, cause after so many years Varundev is sending his blessings in the form of rain. The child already proofed her luck for the king.
The namekaran of the child is going on. Gurudev says that because the king got the child while he ploughed the field, her name will be Sita. Everyone is happy with the name. Gurudev explains the meaning of the name and says that wherever Sita goes she will bring luck with her. Janaka says that she has already proven that, because Mithila is not suffering from drought anymore. Queen Sunayana says that her daughter is "lucky". Gurudev answers that every daughter is subh and that wherever they go they bring their subh (luck) with them.
Ayodhya:
Manthara is making some sweets and while she does she chants the mantra of Om Namah Shivai. Bharat walks in and is happy that Manthara is making sweets. Manthara says that she only made the sweets for Bharat and gives him one to eat. Bharat refuses and says that Ram also likes sweets and he will not eat before Ram has eaten. Ram, Lakshman and Shatrugna enter the room. Manthara quikly hides the plate with sweets. Lakshman says that he smells something. Ram answers that it looks like Manthara made some sweets. Manthara lies and says that she made nothing. Ram says that she must not tell lies and asks her what she has hidden on her back. Manthara says nothing and is moving so that the boys will not discover the plate, but Bharat took some sweets and gives them to Ram. Ram says that he knows that Manthara loves him a lot and made the sweets for him. The boys enjoy the sweets and Ram says that they are very sweet, just like her. They leave.
The king and his queens welcome gurudev Vashist. He tells the king that maybe they are forgotten that the rajkumars are growing up, he is not and he thinks that they are old enough for their upanayana sanskar (thread ceremony) Queen Kousalya syas that if the gurudev thinks that they are ready; he should start with the preparations for the ceremony. Gurudev tells her that after the ceremony it will be time to send the rajkumars to Gurukul. The king and the queens become sad and Gurudev asks the king what happened. The king asks if it is necessary to send the boys to Gurukul. Gurudev smiles and says that now it is not the king talking, but a father who loves his sons deeply. Dasarath answers that he cannot live without Ram. Like a body cannot function without a soul. Gurudev asks him if he do not want his sons to be educated. Dasarath says that it is not like that, he want them to be educated, but that they can study in the palace too. Gurudev syas no, your love and tenderness will become a rock between the rajkumars and their study. The king has to be strong and send his sons to Gurukul. It is the best for the family and the kingdom. Gurudev has already set an auspicious date for the ceremony. He will take the rajkumars after 7 days. The king agrees and Gurudev speaks about how parents should be strong and give them the right example. He gives his blessings to the king and his queens.
The queens are sad. Kousalya says that she cannot say goodbye to Ram. Kaikeyi is sad because the boys will be away till their study is over. Sumitra worries because in the palace there are a lot of servants to fulfill every wish of them and in Gurukul there is none. Kousalya says that she will not send the Rajkumars to Gurukul. The king answers that Gurudev knows what lies in their hearts and therefore he ordered that the rajkumars will go to Gurukul. This is needed because their love would spoil the boys. He says that the queens should be strong. It is the best for the boys to go to Gurukul.
The upanayana sanskar is going on. Gurudev accepts them as their students with the blessings of Suryadev. Ram asks what the meaning of upnayn is. Gurudev explains that they will now see the world with new look, a different view. Shatrugna says that they will not get the palace meals in Gurukul. Gurudev answers that they will not get food, but they will have to ask for it. Whatever they get, they have to share it with their gurudev. He asks why they have to beg. Gurudev answers that begging washes away the arrogance, because the beggar learns that the one who gives is great and the one who asks is poor. The rajkumars ask their mothers for alms and each queen is crying but gives them rice. The king orders Ram to go in to the palace with his brothers, but Gurudev stops him saying that after getting alms they will not stay in the house of the one who gives the alm.They are now students and they have their duty towards their Gurudev. Therefor they will go to Gurukul. He orders them to go immediately. Sumitra says that the chariot is ready, but Gurudev refuses and says that they will go barefoot to Gurukul. They leave and the King and Queen are crying their hearts out.
