At Bani's Dhaba preparations for the wedding feast are on in full swing. One of the people tasting the food is all praises and tells her that she has magic in her fingers. He sees a bowl of khichdi and tastes it. To his surprise its sweet. He asks who on earth who likes such a strange dish. Bani laughs and tells him that there are only two people on this earth who like this preparation, one is Ganga and stops herself from saying who the other is ( JW has wierd tastes all right). Bani tells the man that she's going for Chat puja and asks him to look after things. The thakurain sees this and her sidekick tells her that Maithili is lucky to have won the big contract. Now she'll be able to pay her off and the Thakurain will never get the dhaba back. The thakurain tells her that this Chat puja will prove to be unlucky for Bani.
Jai's car gets stalled in the Chat puja procession. Adi tells him that the land they want to look over is nearby so they should walk out. With an irritated look Jai gets down and begins to walk. Bani is also in the processuion carrying a tokri with the offerings on her head. A neighbour tells her that both parents should touch the basket together and then it should be set afloat in the River Yamuna. Bani tells her that she alone will do the needful as she's both mother and father to her daughter. Both JB are in the procession. As Jai brushes past Bani he knocks the tokri off her head but both of them grab it at the same time to save it from falling. But neither see each other as Bani is busy handling her dupatta on her head and Jai is putting the tokri. Just then Ganga calls out to her mother and Bani turns away while Jai sees the corner of her dupatta entangled on his coat button. Jai frees it as Bani looks at Ganga and he walks off. Bani turns back as she senses his presence but he's walked off. Ganga runs up to her mother and Bani is shocked to see her all muddy. Ganga tells her that she'll accompany her to the puja and will also wash herself clean in the river. All the women are shown praying at the river and Bani sets the diya afloat in the river and prays to the Sun God that Ganga is not just her daughter she's her life and she wants her to have her longevity. On the way back Ganga tells Bani the entire story. She tells Bani that she didn't exactly feel like praying for the khadoos man but she remembered her mother's teachings. Bani tells her not to call him that. Ganga sees JW's car and JW in the distance and points him out to Bani. But in the strong sunlight Bani can only see his silhouette. Ganga tells her mother that god alone knows what he'll do with the barren land. Bani tells her that's none of their concern and they should leave as they have to prepare for the evening. The broker is describing the land to JW and tells him that it belongs to the Thakur. Jai looks at the dhaba in the distance and asks the broker whose it is. The broker tells him that it belongs to the Thakur but a mother and daughter run the dhaba and he needs to talk to the Thakur. The thakur will be attending the wedding in JW's family as he's the only wedding planner in the city.
At the house the mehndi is on and Karuna's daughter( not Laxmi) is getting mehndi put on her by the family. Meera is watching and smiling. The thakur comes with Ganga and Bani but Bani tells Ganga to proceed into the house as she will supervise the kitchen work. Meera's trusted us with this big contract so we must not let her down. She leaves and JW comes. He tells Adi that he will not go in and to call the Thakur out. He sits on a bench in the garden. Ganga sees him from inside and waves at him but Jai chooses to ignore her.( A really heartwarming scene). He's stroking his nose and Ganga begins mimicing him. Jai sees her and stops, sitting in his trademark fashion and Ganga imitates that too. He stops and looks up to see Ganga gone from the window. Jai is looking around for her when she suddenly pops up from behind him and tells him that she's been trying to say hi to him for so long and he's just not responding. Jai tries to turn away, but Ganga forestalls him saying that she knows he's angry coz she gave his money to the beggar but her mother has taught her that the only thing one should take from adults are their blessings. She bends to touch his feet and Jai taken off guard steps back. Dadi comes and tells Ganga that daughters are not supposed to touch feet its considered unlucky. Ganga asks what should she do. Dadi hugs her and tells her to accompany her. Adi comes and tells JW that the thakur is too busy to come out, Jai has to go in.
Inside Meera is happy to see him, but Jai tells her not to get excited, he's just there on business. A lady comes and says how good JM look together and tells a photographer to take their picture. Jai is disgusted but cannot object. Meera is shoved slose to him and the photographer begins clicking. Karuna sees this and calls up Jigz and tells her that it seems that her carefully crafted distance between Jai and Meera seems to be lessening in her absence. Jigz says that she's returning and that she will not allow another Bani to be created( Neither do we). Jai tells the photographer to stop and walks off. Meera sees Ganga walking by and asks her where her mother is. Ganga tells her very self importantly that she splits the work with her mother, she handles everything indoors and Bani looks after the food.
JW meets the Thakur who tells him with folded hands that I'm small change in front of you but I cannot sell that dhaba as my adopted daughter lives there with her child. I cannot destroy her world for money. As he leaves JW says that this man does not know that I do not take no for an answer.
The Thakurain comes and tells one of the waiters to replace the fine white rice with the meetha khichdi saying that the sweetness of the khichdi will prove to be poisonous for Maithili who has troubled her a lot. Bani is busy with the cooks telling them that there should be no cause for complaint. Just then Meera comes and says that she has found reason for complaint. The screen splits into two with the two wives of JW on each side.
