The start
Born in a family of theatre people, Lubna never planned to be a commercial mama. An actress on stage, she was rehearsing a play when a friend persuaded her to audition for a commercial. And before she knew it, she was mama to a 15-year-old in an ad for ICICI Bank. That was three years ago, and since then Lubna's career as commercial mama has been going strong.
The going
Offers poured in almost as soon as Lubna's first commercial aired - and most of them were for mum roles. What works to her advantage she says, "is probably the fact that today, ads look for real people."And thanks to her acting in the Ariel commercial, Lubna's even bagged a role in the serial Ba, Bahoo Aur Baby. "They were impressed with the gamut of emotions I showed in the ad," she says.
The good, the bad
Lubna enjoys her commercial mama roles, and will continue to do them as long as she's the focus of the ad. "I love to act and that's what I do in the ads," she says. And since she's a real life mum herself, she's good with the kids she acts with.
