After the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom debacle, Aditya Chopra seems to be running scared. He has apparently reshot chunks of Laaga Chunari Mein Daag because he wasn't sure of the film

Rani in Laaga Chunari...

Aditya Chopra wants to play it safe after the dismal performances of two Yashraj Films. 2007 has not really been a great year for the biggest production house of the Indian film industry. Ta Ra Rum Pum was just an average grosser while Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom bombed miserably at the box-office.

He has now decided to stick to the tried and tested path after seeing the rough copy of Pradeep Sarkar's film Laaga Chunari Mein Daag.

Apparently, as the producer-director and creative head of Yashraj Films does not want another set back for Yashraj, he has decided to re-shoot some portions of the film.

Most of the actors associated with the film are under the no disclosure contract and refuse to divulge any information about re-shooting the film.

But, Prem Singh Thakur of Federation of Western India Cine Employees confirmed and said," My workers participated in an eight-day rework of the film, the reshoot happened at Yashraj studio."

Thakur however was not certain of which artistes were part of the re-shoot. Coming back to Aditya's worries, Rani Mukherji plays a prostitute in Laaga Chunari...The problem is the film's storyline which is at once controversial as well as something which doesn't go well with the audience profile of Yashraj films. The film is the journey of a middle-class girl who has to resort to prostitution to support her family. The film was shot in Varanasi.

According to a trade pundit, "From the time Aditya Chopra has taken over the reigns at Yashraj Films they have been catering to an upmarket urban audience. Laaga Chunari Mein Daag is a film about a middle-class girl taking to prostitution to support her family. Yashraj audiences will not easily accept a subject that does not go with their profile."

When contacted, Yashraj Films' spokesperson Monika Bhattacharya denied that any reshoot has been done.
