Vansh Katha – Episode Eighteen

(Charith's house)

Manav: What? Ok I'll tell Nithika.

Nithika: What happened?

Manav: Gupta uncle has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for raping his assistant!

Nithika: Oh my goodness that's horrible.

Manav: I know. I never thought he was capable of such a thing.

Nithika: I still can't believe it Manav.

Manav walked away to the bathroom and when he closed the door, Nithika was lost in deep thought.

Nithika: Something is not right here. Gupta uncle maybe a lot of things but he is not a rapist. Something has to be wrong somewhere. What if Gupta uncle was involved in Shlok Chacha's case back then? Then this would tie him up into this big mess as well. This is getting creepier day by day. Why can't I shake off this feeling that something is horribly wrong?

(Devyani's house)

Vansh: Everything will keep going wrong little by little until justice is fully served.

Devyani: We've got two of them now Vansh, well done.

Vansh: I want to start working on our third victim Badi Ma.

Devyani: Not yet Vansh, not yet.

Vansh: Why not?
Devyani: Because we need to give it some time. A basis of attack must be formed and we need to have something solid to attack with. Plus, there could be suspicions of a conspiracy if something happens now. I mean it's not been too long since Vidya was thrown in the asylum and now Gupta is behind bars. So we need to take a short break before we start attacking them again.

(Singhania Mansion)

Poornima: I still can't believe this Sidharth.

Sid: Well none of us could but frankly I'm starting to believe it now.

Poornima: What that Gupta ji actually raped that girl?

Sid: Well what else can I be expected to think?

Poornima: We've known that man all our lives Sidharth I really don't think he's capable of such a thing.

Anirudh: I agree with Poornima aunty.

Sid: Anirudh, did you manage to find anything?

Anirudh: Nothing except that Darshana has left her house and no one knows where she has gone.

Poornima: See Sidharth, I told you that girl must have been lying!

Sid: Oh come on Poornima, she could have left because she couldn't handle living with the humiliation of what happened.

Anirudh: I still believe Gupta uncle is innocent and I'm going to do everything in my power to get him out of jail.

(Charith's house)

Kaveri: You did everything in your power to try and save him Charith but you have to let it go now.

Charith: I've never lost a case before Kaveri and this seemed like a slamdunk! Unfortunately the slamdunk went to the opposing side.

Kaveri: I think you have to start looking at the possibilities that Gupta may have been guilty of what he was charged for.

Nithika: I'm not willing to accept that at any cost Manav. We've both known him since we were children.

Manav: But all the proof…

Nithika: Screw the proof. I'm telling you this is all connected to this Anuradha woman somehow.

Manav: That's crazy talk Nithika…

Nithika: Exactly, crazy talk, that's what everyone thought Vidya Chachi was doing too, talking crazy, but the truth is that she may have been on to something.

Manav: Let it go Nithika. The past is history and the present is what we should focus on now.

Nithika: Why won't you believe me when I tell you that something is not right???

Kaveri: What do you mean something is not right?
Charith: I can feel it Kaveri, I can just feel it. I mean nothing in a case has been so easy but that rape kit, the driver's statement and even the involvement of the other assistant – Mahesh, it all seems too convenient.

Kaveri: Whatever the convenience factor was it's over now Charith.

Charith: It's not over yet, I'm going to do whatever I can to try and get Gupta out of jail.

Nithika: If you don't believe me then don't. I'll just go to someone who does.

Manav: Nithika… Listen to me it's not like that it's just that…

Nithika: It's just that your wife has become as crazy as her Chachi now right? You know what Manav, let's not let this interfere with our marriage so from here on out you and I are not going to talk about this ok? But I will go on in my pursuit of the truth and I will get to the bottom of this mystery one way or the other.

(Vansh/Anirudh's Apartment)

Anirudh: Nithika?

Nithika: Hi Anirudh. How have you been?

Anirudh: Well extremely busy actually because I've been running around trying to figure out a way to get Gupta uncle out of jail.

Nithika: So you believe he's not guilty too?

Anirudh: Yes I do but unfortunately Sidharth uncle doesn't.

Nithika: Neither does Manav and that's why I need your help.

Anirudh: Sure tell me what you need me to do.

Nithika: I can't help but believe that Gupta uncle's imprisonment and Vidya Chachi's insanity binge is connected.

Alarm bells started going off in Vansh's head.

Anirudh: How do you mean?
Nithika: Well this one time when I went to visit Vidya Chachi, she told me about a woman by the name of Anuradha Rao and then when I did some research I found out that she was the woman who killed my uncle Shlok.

Vansh bit his lip in anger.

Nithika: Anyway, as coincidence would have it, Charith papa fought the case on behalf of Vidya Chachi and Papa and Gupta uncle was the police commissioner at that time so I can't help but believe that these things happening one after the other have something to do with what happened in the past.

Anirudh: You don't think it's just some sort of crazy coincidence?
Nithika: That's just the thing, it's one coincidence too many. So will you help me get to the bottom of things?

(Devyani's house)

Devyani: What did you say?

Vansh: I said yes, what else could I say? She trusts me and she wants my help and if I had said no, especially after saying that I believed Gupta was innocent…

Devyani: Forget it now it's ok. But this is a good thing right.

Vansh: How do you mean?

Devyani: Well if you're the only person she trusts to help her then you can also be the person who turns her in the wrong direction.

Vansh: What if I just let her get to the bottom of the truth instead? What if I get her to see that these people were really involved in this murder? Maybe she could help…

Devyani: She will help Vansh, more than you know it. But she's not ready for the truth yet, that's why we have to spin her around a bit before we send her on her way.

The next day Anirudh and Nithika set off on their mission to unveil the truth but every time Nithika got close to something, Anirudh made sure it disappeared. Then came the shocker.

Nithika: I know what we're missing.

Anirudh: You do?

Nithika: Yes. Vidya Chachi mentioned something about Anuradha's son being evil.

Alarm bells once again.

Anirudh: What are you saying?

Nithika: Well if we could track down Anuradha's son…

Anirudh: Vidya aunty is more or less insane, what makes you think this Anuradha person even had a son?

Nithika: She maybe insane now Anirudh but she was talking sense to me then. She knew about Anuradha's son and I think that that is the key to everything. Find Anuradha Rao's son and we find the answers to all of our questions, guaranteed.

Vansh started to feel slightly week inside because Nithika was smarter than he estimated, she was going in the right direction and if she arrived at the truth then he was finished.
