Pride is a protest and it will remain so as long as we get universal recognition and not be illegal in 75+ countries.

Didn't knew half of it before😳, happy Pride month to everyone who's celebrating

Consequently, in a context where homosexuality was criminalized and stigmatized, declaring one's "pride" meant claiming dignity and the right to live one's identity openly, without fear of retaliation or discrimination. This word therefore represents a powerful affirmation of visibility and self-esteem in response to marginalization and violence"

Ok, I didn't know why the word 'pride' was chosen but now I realise it makes sense. I completely agree with the idea that people should not be shamed for their sexuality.
