this track is cracking me up. so much so I called up my cousin sister -- one of her friends recently gave birth and I wanted to check if things had changed since my sister had a baby years ago. my sister started laughing when I told her that ML is allowed in delivery room as random friend. 🤣
so she confirmed: depending on the city and hospital, even husbands may not be allowed in the room. they may get to pop in and out. some do allow the guy to come in the full time but it is really at the doctor's discretion. more allow the girl's mom to come in rather than the husband but again it depends on the health of the girl's mom.
my understanding is that doctors and staff are more concerned about working conditions and their ease as they move from one delivery to another. even a C-section, there will be multiple appointments in one day. when my niece was born, there were 4 other babies born in the same hospital that morning. so staff can't deal with over-the-top family members -- easier to keep them outside in the waiting room.
in one documentary I watched a while ago on babies around the world, the chinese nurse won't allow the husband in the room. he will insist and she will tell him that the last guy they allowed fainted and they ended up having to do CPR on him in the delivery room. 🤣 the hubby will insist that he will not faint and he is okay with blood and she will tell him to buzz off. it was such a hilarious scene like out from a movie that I still remember it. 🤣🤣🤣
