On the RR side, left-arm spinner Akash Vasisht is bowling in tandem with Ravi Ashwin.

Prakash from the venue pings saying David Willey is having a proper bowling session in the side nets. So he might get a game today? Also, Faf du Plessis is out early in the Bangalore sun to have a look at the pitch. We're still not sure if he's fit enough to lead the side. The management has been trying their best...

Hosts RCB would be somewhat dreading their return back home, specially their bowlers who have gone for plenty while playing at Chinnaswamy. Despite having a very strong home support base, Faf du Plessis' side has lost two of their home games already this season. They will however take heart from the fact that they won their last afternoon game at home, and they also won their last afternoon game away as well. So maybe 3:30 is a lucky time for RCB. Afternoon games are not the crazy run fests that we've begun to expect from this venue, but nevertheless we can expect the ball to fly given the small dimensions and plenty of skilled hitters on both games. Stick around for further updates...

Ekanth Prakash is our man at the ground. He describes the scenes thus: "Hot day at the Chinnaswamy and the crowd are making their way in. Willey, a potential replacement for Parnell had a bowl at the warm-ups. Harshal, Hasaranga are on too. On the other side, Ashwin's hitting the cone on a good length like he's programmed to do it. Boult's loosening up, bowling at almost Ashwin's pace."

Neal: "RCB are the competition's sleeping giant without an IPL title. Making a move on the leaders tonight and who knows where it might lead. "

Pitch report

The pitch for this match is the centre strip. So no bigger or smaller boundary. Aaron Finch reports it is a "really dry" surface too. So, as I said, please don't expect 200s here. And also expect the side winning the toss to bat first.
