I mean, I know Aditya Chopra is her Husband & she got cast into Mardaani etc.
But which female actor from the 90s has been cast as a lead in films today AND has been delivering hits after hits?
Rani has carried Mardaani 1, Mardaani 2, Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway on her shoulders and she's slayed it everytime. People have paid to go watch her steal the show and these movies become a hit. It's a huge thing atleast in my eyes. In an industry, where female actors are discarded once they hit 30s and get married, this is big.
Well firstly, they don't get movies with any male actor as a lead (even if SRK, Salman, Aamir, Akshay can romance 18 year olds being Buddas themselves), but to get cast as the lead of movies as a female lead in her mid 40s AND to deliver hits in theatres is a big one. I have lots of respect for her.
I also appreciate Kajol for doing Salaam Venky last year, though that movie faded away as quick as it came. I don't know the verdict, if it was hit or flop. It got my attention when I realized Rajeev Khandelwal was a part of the cast.
In this thing, I appreciate both Rani and Kajol for not playing younger roles and for playing their age in these films. (Unlike their cringe worthy male counterparts, that are buddas themselves in 50s and romance girls 20 years younger to them).
Secret Confession and Unpopular Opinion🤣 - I've always loved Rani as Tina in Kuch Kuch and rooted for Rahul-Tina though she died in the first scene. I was so saddened that Tina died (she was the prettiest, yet so feminine, delicate and elegant). Oh she had me in tears in KKHH. Eversince, I've always rooted for Rani in all her films and hoped that she would succeed. To see her be as prominent over the years and to this day, makes me feel so happy!

But yeah I agree about Rani. I always found her better than most if you compare her to Kajol or Aish or Preity Zinta
