Maybe they think she sings their songs, even the ones that are not great, better than other singers. Many times it is the singer who elevates the song from an average level to above average or even to a fantastic level. But this song is quite average. Kedar Shinde should have gone with somebody like Nilesh Moharir.

It depends on the individual student. Just because someone is from Marathi medium it does not mean he will reach dizzying heights of success and the one from English medium will see the abyss of failure.

Having said that I am of opnion that medium of instruction in the school should be the mother tongue.

I am also of opinion that Indian children who have English as the medium of instruction have to work harder in their childhood than children who have their mother tongue as the medium of instruction.
