I’m not ok with the argument some are peddling that it’s a fantasy movie so the dialogues had to dumbed down.
It’s okay for dialogues to be dull or ordinary, but as a viewer you know how annoying it is to hear dialogues literally written for a kid? “Duniya ka sabse Chatur” “Bolo kaun?” “BANDAR”. It felt silly watching an adult man mouthing these inane dialogues meant for a show like Chotta Bheem.
The only way they could explain a phenomenon is by using the word “Button”???? VFX is great, dialogues don’t matter huhh!! Make it make sense??
That's the reason we will keep getting substandard films from Bollywood even with high end technology and out of the world vfx. Look at the reception towards genuine criticism of the dialogues of this film by Bollywood fans. 'Oh KGF mein toh bahut hi accha dialogues tha na?', 'Why are you expecting Oscar level acting and dialogues from a fantasy film', falana dhimkana. The main problem with Bollywood is that they think audiences are idiots who won't understand anything so let's dumb things down and add in the usual masala to entertain them. They are still stuck in the 90s while the audience has moved on and consumed more than a dozen of high concept international fantasy films to know even they can have good stories, acting and dialogues. Moon Knight did such a fabulous job at blending mythology from Egypt and fantasy together with a brilliant performance by Oscar. And here all we get is kids in the slums pointing to Isha and telling Shiva tere paas toh sabse bada patakha hai aaj diwali mein and crap like that. 🤪

Maybe the sequel (or a prequel) will reveal that...although for this movie it could have been a nice "cliffhanger" to reveal this at the very end (and would have taken away a lot of disappointment...)
As for signing...perhaps she would have signed everything just to work with Ranbir (as his love interest, of course).
Agree with this… I said something similar in an old topic as well…
alias obsession with ranbir is second only to kanganas with Hrithik… if kangana had a mentor like alia does, someone who would have been close to Hrithik… I have no doubt that kangana would be really close to becoming mrs Roshan
Just a thought...what if Ayan was so annoyed about Alia (as love interest) that he ridiculed her /the character she would play on purpose...
The movie is a dud but at least the memes are good 😆
IKR. This could have been a better arc to her character. Otherwise why would you follow a stranger you have just met everywhere? She was like a pylonOriginally posted by: Clochette
The lacking backstory is not Alia's "fault" and at least her dialogues give occasion to humour...
I already wrote in another thread that maybe her character was thought as a villain (voluntary or manipulated), as someone who uses/has to use Shiva's love (and possibly her own love for him) to get the pieces of the Brahmastra (I would have liked this twist because that would have given a special reason to Isha's behaviour.)
Not really. My little niece and nephew went to watch and they fell asleep halfway 😆Originally posted by: Maharani69
Or for people who have the IQ of a 10 year old. Only they will find this circus enjoyable.
I just remembered there was even a line along the lines of..Brahmastra pizza jaisa gol hai🤡
I've no intention ro ridicule Alia's role in Brahmastra (and even less her persona)...
I think she hasn't had a "happy" childhood and trusting Karan was a safe thing for her (considering that he won't have any sexual interest in her).
However, (unfortunately???) she fall in love with Ranbir (himself a damaged young man) at an age that makes first love an imaginated vow "forever" (but what if Ranbir's first love was Ayan?)...
The reason I loved Darlings so much is also due to my thought that it is like a statement from Alia's side because - through her work on Dear Zindagi with ShahRukh - she learned that there was something very toxic in a relationship with Ranbir.
There are a lot of writers who express themselves (and their damages) through writing....Alia (imho) does it through her work in movies.
Alia may have thought that working with Ranbir, giving him her love, could change something in him...it certainly did not change the narcissist in him (not yet).
Nevertheless there is hope...and a child could be a trigger to change, to do something to come to terms with the burdens of the past.
^^ you made a really good point about art imitating life and vice versa. When I saw Darlings, I had very similar thoughts and I could see why Alia could connect with this story. Not the domestic violence aspect no but the need to mould and change the man she loves and thinking that he might change after they have a child. Badru didn’t wanna give up on him and I feel Alia is the same.
Similarly in Sanju, so many things reflects on Ranbir’s life. Like losing a parent, depression and then getting married and finally getting his life back together. Some times fiction and reality mirror each other.
