End of Zimbabwe innings.

They are all out for 189.

India needs 190 to win the match.

It is close to 12:30.  They might go for lunch and then play the second innings.

Cheers..

Brad Evans: I back myself with the bat. We were just trying to keep it as simple as possible; watch the ball, hit the ball, he (Ngarava) was able to do it much better than me. All we want to do in this series is show that we can compete. If we can get 2-3 wickets and make it hard for them, that would give us confidence going forward.

A good effort from the Indian bowlers to keep Zimbabwe down to a less than par score. They might have fancied an even shorter chase after having had the hosts at 110 for 8, but a record 70-run stand for the 9th wicket between Brad Evans and Richard Ngarava frustrated them.

The former was impressive, while the latter used the sledge-hammer to good effect. On a pitch that had plenty of early moisture, the Indian new-ball bowlers did look rusty, but once they got going, the batters looked second best. The hosts slipped from 25 for 0 to 31 for 4 in no time.

Prasidh joined in the act with a couple of killer blows, the spinners were effective and if not for the 9th wicket partnership, this could have been an embarassing effort from the hosts. But 189 is still something on the board and they will hope for the bowlers to give them a sniff. Three wickets each for Deepak Chahar, Axar Patel and Prasidh Krishna, making the most of their chances. Back at 12:55 pm for the Indian chase
