108. Who was known as Śauri?

Posted: 1 years ago

I'm not sure I've seen Bala Rāma called Śauri, but it works for him.

Kṛṣṇa and someone else definitely are called Śauri. Who and why?

Shouri means descendents of Shurasena.

King Shini, who abducted Devaki for Vasudeva at her Seayamvara, was referred to as Shouri.

No, Śini was not called Śauri, as he was Śūra's cousin, not his descendant.

Vṛṣṇi + Mādrī -> Devamīḍhuṣa + Aśmakī -> Śūra

Vṛṣṇi + Gāndhārī -> Anamitra -> Śini

At Droṇaparvan 119.11, the words Devakīṃ Śaure rathasthāṃ refer to someone else on whose chariot Śini had placed Devakī.
