The most important aspect of flirting is to flirt from a distance. Showing signs of interest yet not initiating any talk. The way you say it isn't flirt jaar, this is a direct approach. Sometimes it is to make friends.
If you ask me, humour and wit does the trick, especially if you can pull off humour which is sardonic and a bit off-colour. 
I used to be a part of numerous online groups and chat platforms at one point. When all the members got together, they'd all be like, "Woahh... Can't believe YOU'RE the one with all those witty, caustic remarks and super-aggressive way of debating. You look so soft and innocent in real". 😆
