The goal ahead for Mumbai Indians is rather clear - win all their remaining five matches to have any hopes of qualification to the playoffs!! 

Despite winning the previous game, where both the batting and bowling came good, it is amply clear that the five-time champions haven't found a formula or even a set template. 

And the first threat to their qualification chances comes from the in-form, table-toppers, Gujarat Titans.

Mumbai Indians finally got their first win of the season in the previous match against Rajasthan Royals. They are still bottom of the table with just a single win and will be keen to play for pride and possibly end the season on a happy note. 

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans are the table toppers and are in a really solid position to finish in the top 2. They suffered a loss in the previous match against Punjab and will be keen to bounce back.

Ishan Kishan is one of the rare batters to have successfully countered Rashid Khan. 

In 51 balls, the southpaw has scored 64 runs while the leggie hasn't been able to ever dismiss him in IPL. Is there a case to push Kishan back to the middle order?

Tilk Varma  is looking in great form scoring 307 runs in 9 matches at an average of 43 and a strike rate of 137. Back him to do well in this match.

Shubman Gill  started the season with a bang, but has had a few failures in the last few weeks. He will be keen to get a big score this time around.

The track is excellent for batting with shorter boundaries and quick outfield. Both teams will prefer chasing and the par score is around 180 at this venue.

Gujarat Titans are at the top of the points table with 8 wins in 10 matches. 

They need one win to secure a place in the play-offs. Gujarat lost their last game against the Punjab Kings by 8 wickets. It was their second loss of this season. 

Shubman Gill looked in good touch before he was run out in the last match. Wriddhiman Saha plays freely in the power play and looks to take advantage of the field restrictions. 

Hardik Pandya has failed to score in the last three games and it will be a little concerning for the Titans. Sai Sudarshan scored a half-century and is looking in good form. 

David Miller and Rahul Tewatia are in excellent form as well. Gujarat needs the top order to do well.

The pitch at the DY Patil Sports Academy has been on the slower side in the first innings. The ball has stopped a bit and there has been turn for the spinners as well. But it still is a good pitch to bat on. There has been dew in the second innings and that has eased things for the batters. The average first innings score is 166 runs at this venue and chasing sides have won 9 out of 15 games played here in IPL 2022. Teams will look to chase after winning the toss.

GT vs MI  Match Prediction

Gujarat Titans are the best side of the tournament so far and will have the upper hand because of their current form but Mumbai Indians after winning their first game will look to play freely and win this game. Despite Gujarat Titans’ good form, Mumbai Indians will win this game.

The MI middle overs could see some interesting battles if Rohit Sharma survives for as long. While the opener has enjoyed tremendous success against Lockie Ferguson, Rashid Khan has had his measure, dismissing him twice in 24 balls.

Rashid is the leading wicket-taker in middle overs (7-15) in IPL since his debut with 71 wickets but this year he has taken just three wickets in this phase. Six of his nine wickets in IPL 2022 have come in the death overs. As a result, GT have the worst spin numbers in the middle overs this IPL.
