Why do the cvs show the female lead as a weak character ?

I am not enjoying the series where the ML is a cunning, selfish and evil character who wants his wife to dance to his tunes just as his mother is doing for her husband.

Men like these should be shot dead ….I hope the FL finds out early in her marriage and leaves her marital home soon enough but that won’t happen because the cvs want to show the torture and bad treatment from everyone in her new home

😡😡😡🥰

We'll have to allow it for buildup in the first 2 months, post that hope Saumya gets her voice back.

Actually despite her naivety Saumya is not a weak character. She is a loving giving sort of a person. Yet she is also passionate about writing, what she has chosen as her career. So far she has not really come to a point where she has faced anything that might make her want to suspect Armaan's motives. What will really raise her hackles is if Armaan starts meddling in her writing and her career.

To be honest the show does not essentially deviate from what the average telly drama depicts as romance. The difference is that here the hypocrisy in those dramas is revealed as the perverted thought process of the male lead Armaan.

For example, in most dramas the hero meets the girl who is full of fire. He hates her thinking she is a gold digger, selfish person, brash and lacking in 'family values' etc. He is rude to her until he realises that no, this girl is actually a simple traditional minded girl who is self-sacrificing, as in can do anything for the family even if it means sacrificing her dreams and dignity. Then the male lead falls in love with her and she despite all the things she had lost (like her very personality that we saw at the start of the drama) is happy to have found his love. So the romance starts only once the girl becomes a doormat for the guy's family.

Here Armaan knows Saumya is a simple girl with a heart of gold. He has seen her self-sacrificing and unselfish nature. He chooses her for those qualities because he thinks this will make her the perfect wife for him. He plans to train her through conditioning...show her love when she follows his wishes, sacrifices her dreams for him and his family and thereby mould her into the doormat he wants. In other dramas the female lead becomes a doormat through a gradual process that is not controlled  by the hero. Here Armaan being a master manipulator and aware of gender dynamics wants to shape this wife he has chosen but the end result is the same.

So now I am hoping that here something else will happen. She will not become the doormat and instead things ought to go in a direction that Armaan and us viewers cannot predict.

And, making Armaan be a TV producer is actually a stroke of genius! The game that he plays with Saumya is actually every ITV show come to like, and he knows that better than anyone else. He is playing her, just as he would play/control the FLs in his show, and this actually shows how much hypocrisy exists in both our TV shows and by extension, in society itself.

Now that you say it! So true!! Would Saumya write a different script in her life as well as for tv is what we have to wait and see.

Also one thing I really like is that voice over which tells the audience how women keep giving away parts of themselves in exchange for what they think is love. Every cliche romantic scene or 'moment' in the show comes across in a very different light because of that comment coming from an omniscient third party voice. If the viewers really paid attention to what this show is saying about indian telly romance as a genre, then the whole discourse would have had to change itself. Unfortunately most people won't get it.
